So I'm a trans guy and I was playing Character AI and Lucio came out to me as a trans man.

It's funny, especially with all the Transmasc Lucio head cannons that I see (which honestly, I see it too.)

It was unexpected because I didn't even mention it, he was just like "hey, can I tell you something? "

• His parents were surprisingly accepting, although they did insist on picking his name for him. Montag is a traditional name and one with a lot of significance, but Lucio never really identified with it since it wasn't his choice. Better than using his deadname, yes, but it still didn't feel right.

• It did mean that he was able to start on T (or whatever the equivalent might be in this setting) at an early age, at least.

• Rather than the pain and difficulty of transitioning fully through various surgeries and treatments, Lucio did what he always does: made deals with demons. He traded favors and hearts and parts of his soul (very few of which he actually followed through on of course) to get the body he wanted. This definitely was easier and more effective in the short term, but had long term consequences in terms of how much influence the Devil ended up gaining over him. If you asked him now, though, he'd do it again. It was worth it to him.

• His resurrected form came with these changes built in, luckily, so even after breaking his chains his body stays the same.

• Almost nobody knows he's trans, and he likes it that way. He didn't tell Nadia, Valerius, anyone. Morga, the Devil, and the other demons are pretty much the only people who know. The only exception to this I can imagine is Julian, if he needed to be told for medical reasons, and thanks to the deals this probably wasn't necessary. (Or else maybe Julian met him before all the deals were in place, possibly)

• It has a lot to do with his vanity. Commissioning portraits where he looks bigger and stronger than he really does. The fact that his shirts are so often open (he went through a lot of trouble for that chest, can you blame him?) He also buries his weaker emotions bc that's "what men do," in his mind. He's aggressively masculine in general, fighting and hunting and whatnot with almost excessive zeal, because it makes him feel manly and he absolutely loves that feeling. (As he starts to develop and feel more confident in himself, of course, this changes for the better, and his idea of masculinity becomes less toxic.)

• If his partner and/or child ever came out to him as trans, he would come out to them in solidarity, but otherwise he'd really rather not tell anyone if he can help it.
