The Guardian (OUAT/SVTFOE)
Hey guys, So as those of you who have been following will know I have a theory that Margot/Robin is Marco Diaz from SVTFOE and Tilly/Alice is Star Butterfly.
In the OUAT canon characters have previously had multiple identities, the latest character to do so being Nick/Jack/Hansel. Plus not every OUAT character fits in perfectly with Disney lore.
So far my largest pieces of evidence is that Margo Diaz is a theorised name for Marco if they were to come out as trans. In one episode Tilly has a discussion with Margot about where the T is in her name, initially thinking the name was spelt Tmargo. A few small steps here you get T Margo, Trans Margo and then Trans Marco. Margot grew up in California like Marco, she has a distant relationship with her mom and possibly her father but that’s unknown unless I missed something (I know in the fairy tale world her father is dead). In the fairy tale world Robin is looking for more adventure and to live up to her father and namesake, Robin Hood. She finds this adventure in chasing one of Alice’s magical creations. How often has Star’s magic lead to Marco going off on an adventure.
Alice’s nickname given to her by her father Captain Hook is Starfish (short leap to Star). She has magic she isn’t all that good at controlling yet and when meeting Robin she starts to learn to control it. She is Alice as in Alice from Wonderland, so she has the whole travelling different dimensions thing in common with Star.
Anyway, let’s get on with today’s episode. So in the fairy tale world Robin and Alice are talking and Robin gives Alice a bracelet she made and in exchange, Alice gives her a watch she got in Wonderland which leads to this dialogue;
Robin: I wish I’d done as many exciting things as you.
Alice: Yeah, well as much fun as travelling realms is, I’m starting to learn you can have a lot of other adventures just staying put. Good ones too.
Which came off as meaning her adventures with Robin, but it also made me think of the closing lyrics of SVTFOE Season 1 and 2 with “I think Earth is a pretty great place, that’s saying something cos I’ve been to outer space. I think it suits me, it’s just my style. I think I’m gonna stay a little while.” So like Alice has been to all these weird and wonderful places but like she finds this adventure in being with Robin.
And like back on Earth, Margot asks Tilly out on a date. Margot reveals that she is really into food which is quite paralleled with Marco, who enjoys cooking and stuff. Margot introduces Tilly to putting candy on apples and says that you can put candy on anything. A bit later Tilly comes by Roni’s with a plate of something going to Margot, “You were right. You can put candy on anything.” Which makes me think of “Star Vs Echo Creek” when she put loads of syrup (or was it sugar) on her taco.
And this isn’t so much evidence now but just comments I have. There seems to be this nice symmetry in Alice/Tilly and Robin/Margot’s relationships. In the fairy tale world Alice is the one who has been on all these great adventures in Wonderland, while Robin hasn’t and is simply seeking adventure. On Earth, Margot has travelled the world, while Tilly has spent most her life dealing with her mental health, living on the street and not really leaving Hyperion Heights. And like in both encounters they compliment each other and bring out their best selves from each other.
I also like the fact that Margot seems really understanding towards Tilly. Like Tilly has been hearing a buzzing in her head all day because of the Dark One’s dagger being mysteriously in her backpack. Her strange link to the fairy tale realm though (she seems to have some clouded idea of what is going on) is portrayed as a mental health condition. Anyway, while at the library the buzzing gets really loud which causes her to scream, “I need it to stop.” She then starts apologising and storms out while Margot tries in vein to stop her and looks kinda sad as Tilly leaves.
Later Tilly comes by the Roni’s with her candy covered peace offering saying how she never knows what sort of day she is gonna have, whether it will be a good day or a bad day and that she isn’t quite ready for Margot to see the bad days. Margot sweetly assures her she wants to be there for both the good and bad days and that she won’t runaway or leave her.
And I’m so excited that Margot and Tilly are now dating :D
Enjoy anyway and feel free to comment.
