When James Potter's gang of degenerates pantses Snape in front of the whole school, it's more than just humiliation.
Snape had a secret that he had managed to hide for the entire time he had been attending Hogwarts. He had been so careful.
That is the day, the moment, that the entire school finds out that Severus Snape is a Trans boy.
It had shocked the marauders. Many other students pointed and laughed.
Severus had verbally lashed out at Lily, and even after he apologized she didn't forgive him. She made a crude joke at the expense of his gender identity.
He told himself he deserved that. He had called her one, right? But he would forgive her. He did forgive her. She didn't forgive him.
Now the bullying has ramped up, and it isn't the marauders this time. He has been shoved out of nowhere, a few others have tried to pull his pants off, someone tried to pull his shirt off to see if he had tits, he has been followed into the washrooms.
He has been fielding rape threats. Those terrify him the most.
The professors waffle between claiming they will deal with it and not doing so, telling him to ignore it all and it'll stop, or telling him they haven't seen the physical abuse he is reporting so he must be exaggerating.
And his only support, his only friend, will no longer speak to him.
