Trans places exist, kid hold on
isn't the whole part about being a trans community that you have to be a community?
i love trans spaces online but hate them at the same time because it can feel unwelcoming. little to no men on trans reddit, transwomen in transmasc specific subs, transfem porn bots on tumblr, little diversity in the 'ideal trans man' (weight, disability, race, etc) yadda yadda. i love trans women theyre fucking awesome dont get me wrong but sometimes it feels like there's no place for me.
Never not exhausted by “cis allies” who think being cis queer means they can crash trans exclusive spaces. It has happened in every single trans space I’ve ever been in at one point or another.
This includes group therapy, sex parties and other very personal and intimate spaces for trans people.
These cis people ALWAYS have some bullshit to say about trans people when they honestly aren’t even a guest! They crashed the party, made everyone feel less comfortable and less safe. Then have the fucking gal to insult trans people in our fucking spaces made so we DONT have to hear cis peoples opinions about us.
I’m so sick of it.
Hot take but community and connections are a human right. We deserve to not fear being persecuted or literally attacked in our spaces and you can’t convince me this isn’t transphobia - no matter the reason given for canceling the trans person will convince me there isn’t transphobia involved. I don’t care if it’s trans people canceling or persecuting other trans people, it’s still coming from transphobia. Some of the most transphobic things I’ve ever heard said came from a trans person’s mouth. As a community we are extremely self hating and using social power against each-other. It’s terrifying to see how quickly we abandon compassion. all have to get more compassionate and humanizing NOW!!
Hot take: You are not protecting the trans community by protecting abusers who happen to be trans.
You are just making trans spaces dangerous.
Still incredibly pissed about a local music event from, maybe 2yrs ago?, hosted at a supposedly queer friendly space that decided to advertise 'Free Tickets' for women and trans folk and it turned out when some people applied for those tickets that the trans part was for Trans Women ONLY. Da fuk.
I then found out that this shit is a trend and that when places, articles, companies and groups say they support or cater to trans people... they end up catering to and talking about ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY TRANS WOMEN ONLY. I'm glad those spaces exist but DON'T PRETEND to be FOR or about TRANS PEOPLE as a WHOLE when you're really just for Women. The gender and cis divide stuff is horrid already, queer spaces shouldn't be making it worse!?
