Change: Genderqueering Holmes Monthly Prompts by @jeremys-come-to-bed-eyes
Prompt: Family.
Synopsis: A blackmailer delivers Watson's birth certificate to the girl of his dreams: Mary Morstan.
...
His heart almost stopped when he noticed that Mary was standing in the middle of the room and between her delicate hands lay the cursed letter.
He had arrived too late.
Now she knew.
He was a fool and a liar! By underestimating the matter by believing that he could solve it on his own wat, and also stupidly by believing that he didn't need to involve Holmes in the blackmail matter just because he didn't want to waste the time of his friend but those concerns now seemed useless compared to what would happen now.
The end of everything, his existence about to be disowned by the woman he secretly love. He had never had any illusions that he could court her properly or have a proper courtship with Miss Morstan but he was happy to be her friend. To be her prince charming in the beautiful kingdom of dreams and impossibilities.
"I'm not surprised you're here" say her.
"..."
Mary made a small gesture of displeasure when she turned to see him and crumpled the page.
"It's really outrageous... -and listening to her, Watson's heart broke a little- that someone would do this to you! It's a very serious offense!"
And then Watson felt very confused.
"It's illegal, right? It must be illegal! -and she looked really upset- What has Mr. Holmes told you about this, have you told him right? Is there anything we can do?"
He didn't know how to respond and it was when she saw his anguished expression that she realized Watson needed a moment.
"Do you know what it said there? What that means"
Mary arched her eyebrows and looked at him with some amusement as if she say "I can read! you know?" But when she noticed the little gleam of fear and hope in the doctor's blue eyes, and she knew that he needed a firmer answer.
"Yes. That someone misspelled your name a long time ago and maybe some other things... but that's not the important thing right now, the important thing is that someone is trying to cause you troubles! Please be honest and tell me if you are in serious danger. You helped me once and I would love to return the favor."
Watson not for the first time in his fleeting encounters with Miss Morstan wished to kiss her. Lucky for him she would be his wife and his family in the great future that was waiting them.
...
This has sense? No
But I have fun writing it? Hell yes, sooo
