I made my friend, who is transmasc and also into Catholic witchcraft, a little gift package.

He sometimes struggles with dysphoria and people seeing him for who he really is so I made him a spell oil to help combat that. I will also be making a gender identity oil for myself. I own multiple pieces of sodalite so I decided to add one in case he doesn't already own one as I have been using it lately in my own gender journey. I highly recommend the crystal for anyone who is genderqueer and/or questioning their gender identity to help with battling dysphoria, expressing yourself, etc. I also got him a transgender symbol necklace (I got it in black to match his style) so we can match as I got similar jewelry. I enchanted the necklace for him. I also had a spare bisexual pin that I felt like he'd enjoy. The rest are some prayer cards and a palm cross to use as a fidget or in prayer.

All he knows about is the oil and that I got him something jewelry related. I really hope he likes it all once I'm able to give it to him :)

when I do my testosterone gel, I write “HADES” in large letters in the gel with my finger while saying “I make my SELF in YOUR image”.

it works as an offering, a spell, and just a fun thing where I think Hades gets a chuckle out of the turning of that phrase. also helps me relieve a little bit of that leftover religious trauma.

Dionysus and Duality

With a busy life and a busy mind, I find it hard to keep with my practice and deities, but what I won't forget is the duality that I have in most of my being.

In many texts, Dionysus was described as the "born-again" god, the god of duality, being two very different things in different moments. He is a god that was all too familiar with gender and its fluidity, knowing androgyny pretty well. He is a god that would watch and protect you when you're drunk, but will not hesitate to metaphorically throw you in deep water to teach you to swim.

The more I look inside myself, the more I see the same. No human is black and white, but many people still tend to stick to the same shades of grey. I look inside myself and see the same duality, the very different sides of the same coin, not limited by the bounds of society, by my community, by anyone.

It's this realization that helped me realize why Dionysus reached out to me, why he has stuck around. It wasn't for his stereotypical image of a drunk party-goer. That's why I was confused for the longest time why he of all gods wanted to work with me. You could simple it down to being a theatre kid and being transgender, but it is more than that. The more I look inside myself and the more I work with him, the more I understand this.

Little note: this is just my experience with how I work with Dionysus and how I see myself. It is not me trying to be "holy-er than thou".
