To be clear tma/tme language is inclusive of every identity that suffers the direct and inescapable force of transmisogyny.
It might not correctly describe intersex people's intersectional oppression. Because their oppression intersects far more with intersexism/intersexphobia than any other oppression!
Tma/tme has been a very useful tool particularly among those multiply marginalised as a way of directing attention to the specific social and cultural conditions transmisogyny creates.
is it though? it literally is a dichotomy between 'exempt' and 'affected'
and if it doesnt account for intersex people, who imo are inextricably linked to trans liberation (think venn diagram), then how inclusive is it?
my issue is the dichotomy of 'affected' vs 'exempt' as i dont believe any trans person can be exempt in good faith. the exemptions people mention boil down to 'they can fall back on structures that harm them to enforce their position outside of this oppression' similar to 'bisexual people have straight passing privilege' obv there is nuance, but to tell bisexual jess who is dating bisexual jakey that 'you have straight passing privilege' discounts how they actually interact with the world. bisexual jess and jakey have lived thier whole lives under the auspices of homophobia and compulsory heterosexuality. just because they are in a relationship with eachother doesnt negate them being bisexual and being subjected to biphobia and homophobia.
