Listen I feel like there's a lot you could do with Oplita. Does Optimus wonder if his change from Orion to Prime make him too different? Does Optimus being away from Earth give him anxiety about coming back home? Does Elita worry about Optimus because she sees a tiredness in his eyes that Orion just didn't have?

Goddddd I want so badly a fanfic that sort of explored Springer and Tarantulas's dynamic more. I wanna see a Springer grappling with being completely artificial. I wanna see Tarantulas freaking Springer out until Springer kind of pieces together that Tarantulas is treating him almost like a son. I wanna see Springer piece together the backstory of what turned his creator into this creepy spider guy.

I have ideas for my own version of Springer and Tarantulas and a story in mind to explore that but like come onnnn

Transformers is about autonomy. Like, obviously freedom is a big part of it and freedom is just the right to have autonomy, and the fight is between a leader who encourages his allies to do what they think is best and trusts them to make the right decisions vs a leader who controls and subjugates even his followers in an attempt to make it so no one has autonomy under his rule, who berates and tortures those who step out of line.

But like...they're also robots.

They're machines. They can be built in some continuities, built to serve a specific function or purpose. They can be reprogrammed, rebuilt, modified, controlled.

I feel like while Transformers is inherently political, with the whole freedom theme and them fighting against a literal tyrant...

I feel like it could be equally as valid to write a Transformers plot or show that focuses more on them as robots and what makes something alive.

Idk I kinda just realized that a lot of the characters in my Transformers continuities have something focusing on freedom and autonomy.

Many people say there's a huge difference between Cybertronians and humans. Cybertronians are more durable and can transform after all.

But my parents are both IT professionals and talking with them has made me realize that machines and humans have a lot in common.

You think if a Cybertronian gets damage to their RAM, it causes short-term memory problems?

You think if a Cybertronian gets damage to their processor it's similar to a concussion?

CPU Damage could be like brain death to them, hitting a fuel line could be like hitting an artery, wire damage can be like nerve damage, damage to their graphics cards can result in blindness.

You think they ever feel aches in their bodies from where their metal has been wielded? You think they feel a form of chronic pain from major injuries? You think they use speed tape as bandages? You think they do stretches to warm up the pistons in their limbs so they don't break? Would that be similar to a pulled muscle?

You think if their coolant system breaks, they can overheat or even get poisoned from their own body fluids?

You think losing a part of their body makes it much harder for them to transform? You think losing an arm or leg or wing is worse for them because it disables them in more ways than one?

I dunno.

I love it when media treats damage to robots in real tangible ways that make it similar to when a human gets injured.

Worldbuilding! I had a lot of ideas for how Energon is used for my continuity so. Yeet.

In my attempt to improve in art I decided to go back to my Transformers stuff and redesign the main six Autobots to be more unique in shape language. Optimus, Ratchet and Jetfire are strong characters in various ways, thus they get squares, Bumblebee and Jetfire are friendly and Hot Rod and Bumblebee are young, thus they get circles, and Hot Rod, Ratchet and Prowl are pretty on edge or dangerous in various ways, thus they get triangles.

The designs themselves, after overlaying them, will probably need to be updated and changed, especially with the proportions of some (primarily I think I didn't do Optimus super well), but its all part of the learning process.

If you're all having some trouble with designing or drawing your bots, primarily blocking out shapes first and then drawing on top of them will mean that they have unique physiques and silhouettes that will make them easy to identify. Try this for yourself, or maybe let me know of any ways to improve!
