" I'm sure Emi will be by later to give you something, too, but I wanted to be the first person today to say 'Happy Birthday', sis! " She'd probably figured he hadn't planned anything, but Ren always exclaimed that it was hard to forget his own twin's birthday when they both shared the same date!
So he'd greet Rei that morning with a plate of special but obviously store bought blue pancakes and fruit all decked out in a galaxy theme with a box sitting on the table directly in front. Inside the box would be a set of star themed earrings, a large space themed lion plush he'd won himself, and a bunch of tokens to his favorite arcade so Rei could come along with him sometime!
" Hope you like strawberries and blue raspberry! They had other flavors, but...these were new and I know how much you like anything with stars. See all the little star sprinkles? They're gold, but you can totally eat them! "
Ren was always the first person to wish her a happy birthday. Ever since they'd been kids, it had always been Ren - Their parents tried, but with their work schedules and everything else going on in their lives, getting woken by them would have been more of a dream than anything else. Not that Rei held it against them, truly! She loved their parents dearly, but this...
This was better in her opinion. Her twin's bright smile, a breakfast themed around one of her most favorite things ever, Ren's excitement and the present set out along with it all... As much as she would've liked their parents to be there earlier than their promised birthday dinner later in the day, she vastly preferred the far more subtle and low-key celebration between just herself and Ren than the grander, glitzier, and louder celebrations their father would've insisted on had he been there before they'd woken for the day. This felt more personal, more... Not so much from the heart, persay, but... Something similar? She wasn't sure, and this wasn't the time to think further on it, really.
Especially not when she could chirp a bright and happy "Happy birthday, Renren!" right back, ignoring the box and breakfast in favor of tugging her twin close for a tight hug. He... Had no idea, did he? That despite all the fussing and the worrying and the bickering they did, the best gift she could ever have gotten for her birthday was right there in her arms - Her twin brother Ren, someone who would give up the world to protect his loved ones, including her. A brother who had given his morning up to making her a breakfast of all the things she loved...
Truly, she could've asked for no better gift than him.
But those were words that while true would have gotten her called mushy and sappy to speak aloud, so she'd leave them at the hug she hoped he could find the full meaning in and turn towards her breakfast. He knew she loved strawberry and blue raspberry - And the golden sprinkles immediately had her attention, enough so for her to snag a bite of her space-themd pancakes before opening the box... And all but immediately squealing in delight at the gifts within, scooping up the bear to hug tight to her chest in utter glee!
Between the plush, earrings, and tokens, she wasn't sure where to start first... So hopefully he wouldn't mind an excited bounce from his twin and a delighted cry of thanks! She was definitely theming her outfit for the day around those earrings, and he....
"You've gotta let me give you your gift too-!"
A spoiling for a spoiling - It was only fair when he deserved the same glee and delight he'd given her~!
