this is entirely based off a meme i saw about rocky horror picture show but i genuinely think it's so interesting how queer people talk about the media that they were interested in when they were young. people talk about their first time watching rocky horror and being hit with a "trans-ification beam" or seeing velma and daphne in the live action scooby doo and being turned into a lesbian. there's all this talk about 'awakenings' from she-go in kim possible and etc which is so interesting. queer people so often love to joke about media 'turning' them queer when they all really know it's not the case. in all ways, it's the other way around. seeing tim curry in a corset didn't make anyone trans, but i can guarantee every trans child who saw that movie was fixated on that for reasons they couldn't possibly articulate. i know i watched all the pixie hollow movies i could and loved vidia, but had no real reason why. when you're that young, it feels like you are just getting hit with some sort of laser. there is some sort of magic taking effect from your point of view.
