#transitiontuesday2k15 option 1
#adhomukhasvanasana to #sirsana 🌋 #downwarddog to #headstand. . 🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏. . 1. Get into a strong downward facing dog, lengthening through the spine. Crouch, spring forward. . 2. Broaden across the chest and back, tucking the chin as the elbows bend. 3. Keep your stability using a strong core and straight legs. . 4. Press the ground away as you place the head down, in either tripod (knees on elbows) or tripod headstand. . ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ This pose takes a lot of arm strength, balance, and most importantly PRACTICE. #transitiontuesday2k15
Big fucking shoutout to my bro @yoga_made_eazy for this #transitiontuesday2k15. I've watched this brother go from interested, to committed, to flying more consistently than most other students I've seen progress along the path. He works hard at his craft but keeps his spirits up and a happy laughing attitude. This guys like a new age Buddha or something. He just keeps the bright side at the forefront and for that I'm honored to call him an #inspiration. Thanks for the submission bro!! Keep motivating us all to follow our dreams. #hippielifecrew #hlkshit #rocketyoga . . This weeks #transitiontuesday2k15 is #downwarddog to #8limbpose. The key to this transition is keeping the gaze forward long enough for the thighs to catch above the elbows. Have fun with this one! PLEASE FALL. ⚠️ IT MEANS YOUR PROGRESSING!⚠️. . 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 1. Start in downward dog with fingers spread wide and shoulders pulling down the back. Chest is broad and hips reach up and back. . 2. As the hips sink continue to lengthen through the spine, exhaling. Spring forward with an inhale, keeping the stomach tight and hips high. . 3. Spread legs (with pointed toes) wrapping them around the forward arms. This step will become more difficult the closer hips remain to the ground. Getting them high during "take off" will allow you to use balance when entering the second posture. . 4. Once the legs wrap around the arms you may cross ankles. NOTE: The higher you get the hips, the higher you can wrap around the arms and eventually fold forward, forehead to the floor. . 💧💧💧💧💧💧💧💧 If you're wondering, who the hell should be doing this stuff the answer is YOU! These poses take practice to master but are effective tools for self discovery no matter how much yoga you have or have not done. Use them as a replacement for difficult, new, and challenging life experiences and put yourself to the test. How do you react to failure, imbalance, and weakness? How do you react to success, progress, and strength? More importantly how does your breath react. Controlled by your instinctive sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, the breath will follow the patterns of FIGHT or FLIGHT. Are you a fighter or nah? (at Washington DC NE)
Huge fucking shout out to my fellow yogi @yogiman_83 for BEASTING the #transitiontuesday2k15 this week. He added some flavor to the transition that I just had to add to! Today we turn up the volume! This transition is from #dowarddog to #sidecrow. This arm balance based transition is a tough one that will require conditioning, effort, and planning. Through hard work and trial and error anything can be accomplished. Attack the fearful voice in your head with results! . 💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨 1. Spread fingers and press palm in downward dog. Broaden across the chest, lift the chin, and round through the back. . 2. Bend your knees and spring forward. Keep the legs together and tucked into the stomach or chest. . 3. Press firmly into the palms as chest comes forward and elbows bend. Land the lower knee on your tricep. . 4. Relax in the posture and allow for the architecture of your limbs to detail the places to activate. Keep the breath strong. . 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Practice practice practice! Be sure to tag your submissions #transitiontuesday2k15 and look for a new challenge every week!
This transition is called a #jumpthrough. It's used when transitioning from #downwarddog to #dandasana or staff pose. The hardest part of this transition is holding transferring your weight so the legs pass through the arms without touching the ground. Practice jumping forward in your sun salutations and with practice the legs will eventually clear the ground. . 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 1. Spread the fingers in down dog and press finger tips firmly into the ground. Use this pressure to stretch the hips up and away from the hands. Keep this spinal extension as you exhale, bending the knees. Keep your gaze forward, past the fingertips. . 2. Use a deep inhale spring the hips up and forward, aiming to bring them above the straight arms. Maintain your tucked shape allowing shoulders to move forward, past the fingertips. Continue to gaze forward past the edge of your mat. . 3. Draw the navel in to keep the knees close to the chest as hips come down. Keep the upper back and chest broad to provide a wide, sturdy doorway for the lower body to pass through. . 4. Extend the legs with ankles flexed and land with a straight back, toes pointed skyward. Allow the shoulders to relax and chest to lift as you inhale. . 💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨. . This transition comes with many physic components and mental challenges so be easy on yourselves! Look to discover the mechanics of the movement through practice to better understand where you have opportunities for improvement. If you work on those opportunities with desire to truly grow the transition, pose, goal or ambition with become yours. .
