I was leaving the apartment to go get the ingredients to make creamy Charleston-style grits for the Oscar party I'm going to on Sunday - True Grits, of course - and I had just made what to anyone else might seem like very little headway with my website, but to me every little victory, every figuring things out, even mentally, even in the planning stages, is a huge reason to smile.
Basically (as if there is any other way for me to speak of it), I am adding wordpress to part of the website, moving the blog there but keeping the style elements of the magazine thus far because I like what it looks like now (better than any of the themes I've found) and it is definitely going where I want it to go. That being said, I repeat for the fifteen thousandth time that I have no idea what I'm doing.
I know a little bit what I'm doing. I know more what I'm doing now than I did a year ago when this project wasn't even a twinkle in the eye, as they say. They say it, I never would.
The website is a work in progress, but it is my work and I am making progress, and the grits are going to be creamy and spicy and delicious.
And soon there will be a call for submissions because the third issue is starting March 21. It's going to be called transform. Because that's what we do.
