i think "awaited" would be grammatically correct more than just "waited" but i guess that's an extra syllable :P (tho i don't necessarily think translyrics need to be super strict on syllables, as long as you can sing it all within the instrumental/timing since ive heard some english covers that still flow nicely that don't have word for word matching syllables [tho maybe "we both awaited" would fit? it's kinda hard to tell w/o hearing an example of the lyrics])

Regarding syllable count, you may be true, but for now I prefer being as close to the original sounding as possible (more to that, I’ve seen people being not very happy with some translyrics having wrong syllable count).
