I don't think I discussed this much in the og post, but my personal interpretation of Hop is that Hop is genderfluid. Hop heavily uses she/he pronouns interchangeably, even if he doesn't change his style often. Leon is also very open in discussing his sister in interviews and uses interchangeable pronouns for her, too, when talking about Hop. It's a well-known fact that the Champion's sibling is genderfluid and it's just how it is.
And that bothers Bede? It bothers him so much to his core, because he has been so scared to approach Oleana and Rose and ask them to not says 'She's my/the Chairman's charge'; he's so scared to ask Rose to stop bringing him dresses for new clothes for him to have/wear. And he's so scared to tell Rose he changed his name to Bede, and seeing Hop - Who he admittedly doesn't know what he's also going through - being so authentically and openly themselves and he just... Hates it. He wants to see Hop struggle like he has his whole life and lashes out any chance he gets. All because Hop gets to be themselves and Bede feels like once again he has to fight his way to even survive, let alone how he wants.
