Oh, so apparently SwSh came out a few days ago (6 years ago)? Neat!

I wanted to draw the rivals older, too. I subscribe to long Bede, wide Marnie and bespeckled Hop.

Real talk, I just wanted to draw an older Marnie with a half shaved head, then it turned into this.

I used to really like drawing fashion when I was younger. Thought I'd give it a go here. I must say, British Punk is a very fun and wild aesthetic. As it should be.

Figured they'd met up after Marnie and Bede did some training and after Hop was done at a conference. Marnie's all dolled up because she's going to a concert (Piers', likely.). She has 2 tickets? For her and who else I wonder??? Hop's excitedly yapping about the conference and Bede's pretending not to listen.

I think Hop would only really dress like this for special occasions. Gotta look presentable for such big events. Everyone always has cool ideas for older Hop hair. I couldn't think of anything other than Beiber bangs, but I like it, haha. I feel like Marnie would get more confident and embrace the Yell punk look. Plus, the aggressive look helps to intimidate the competition/challengers. I feel like, despite likely being flashy on the field, Bede'd be happy with comfort and stability above all else, so still big soft, fluffy clothes. Nothing too flashy while he's just out and about. I think his hair'd just get curlier.

I always think it's neat doing some sketches, too, which I haven't done in a hot minute. So here's some below as well. :3

Hop is baby, Marnie is babe, and Bede is brat. Marnie doing a lil photo shoot or something. I dunno, I liked the pose. :3 I think Bede and Marnie would get along, honestly. Marnie wouldn't let Bede's rough mannerisms bother her and Bede would find Marnie mellow enough to be around. But of course, evenwhen they're older, I think Hop and Bede would get a kick out of hecklin' each other. And Marnie's gotta be the adult in the room more often than not. Would always be entertaining.

Really fun to consider pokemon characters owning merch of more high-profile trainers. Gladion has a Piers t-shirt under that hoodie. Nemona owns a poster of Red and Blue used to promote the Alola Battle Tree. Hop owns dozens of Leon trading cards that go for hundreds each with collectors. Cheren still has a Keychain he bought from the Nacrene City Museum gift shop when Lenora was still a gym leader.

Actually thinking about fandom culture in context of the pokemon world is so fun. Shauna has made amvs of characters Diantha has played. Penny religiously read Lillie's "my mom sold me to Champion Cynthia" fics. Bede runs a Galar league discourse blog on Tumblr. Drayton skipping class to read reader x Raihan rpf. There's so much potential here.

I will say original Red is pretty cool for the implications of it, we can have two versions of the same character both running around on Pasio at the same time. So L's looking more likely to me whenever we start getting Z-A content 😁✨

Maybe older designs for other characters too, RBY/GSC/RSE, BW for Cheren and Bianca? 🤔 Or a chance for Hisuian Ingo after all?

But RIP Kieran, I hope they at least give you a shiny Ogerpon eventually 💔
