During these trying times, the Transverse team is still picking away towards our goals. Working remotely, our resident developer Tee has been cooking up an android app. We are dedicated to making Transverse accessible and user-friendly, and have already received some excellent feedback from our prototype testers.
If you are interested in participating in remote beta testing, we are currently looking for volunteers to provide feedback for a brief questionnaire. Email [email protected] for details.
As the app starts to better take shape, we are streamlining our ideas and making sure we do our essentials right. We have taken some time to review our system for tracking and managing dysphoria, and have made steps to make the tracker inclusive of broader anxiety and depression - whether you experience gender dysphoria or not.
We are also building a compendium of trans and trans-adjacent knowledge to be available to our users. This includes a full dictionary of terms used in the community and in academia, a commonly asked questions section for people questioning their gender or transitioning, and a separate FAQ for allies and loved ones of trans or gender-questioning people.
Being transgender can pose unique problems in our lives, and being surrounded by people who cannot relate to us can feel very isolating. We want to reach out to our community and open a dialogue about jobs, school, dating, health, and managing our lives as happy people. We at Transverse are proud to announce an up-and-coming advice column, where users can anonymously ask the nitty-gritty questions we all face, and discuss solutions relevant to transgender people in all stages and walks of life.
Additionally, we are excited to announce a regular series of articles written by healthcare and social work professionals about being an active ally or member of the transgender community in the services we often need most. As we are beginning to open social media accounts for the app, we will also begin featured spotlights on transgender people from all walks of life. There are so many amazing stories out there - and we can’t wait to share them with you!
2020 has been a difficult year for all of us. The pandemic has brought with it so many frightening and unprecedented changes, and the future isn’t clear right now. An even more dangerous and long-lasting pandemic of systemic racism is being exposed clearer than ever in this new age of technology, and the nation is hurting with the injustices so many of us face. The Transverse team proudly stands with Black Lives Matter, and we are taking some time to evaluate how we, personally as well as within the app, might help contribute to a better world of racial equality.
If you are interested in helping test the app, would like to submit a question to our advice panel, or would like to be considered for a spotlight piece on our social media, please send inquiries to [email protected]
