also i have been saying dark music box show us the forbidden parentage secret in my head on repeat for the last week but little did i know it would be SHAOFEI’S music box, the one that had already been unlocked, that would reveal tang yi’s backstory!!!!!!! they really got us there guys!!!

So how disappointed are you that the music box only plays music box-y instrumental music?

SO disappointed! i would’ve rather we had never heard his music box, so that i could pretend it was something incredibly memey. also, we never even got to see what’s inside! i really thought they were saving that for some important reveal. it can open, right? i have to go back and look at shaofei’s music box, but since they came from the same person and shaofei said “i have the same one,” it seems like they have the same design, so tang yi’s should be able to open. don’t tell me li zhen didn’t put something in there for her kid to find ONLY AFTER HE FOUND THE ONE MAN ON EARTH WITH A KEY AND FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM! why can’t i have a Li Zhen: Making Matches From Beyond the Grave spinoff??

i feel like i’m back in high school lit class with this lighter symbolism. what does it all mean?? obviously tang yi is very attached to his lighter because tang guo dong gave it to him right before he died and there’s all this “continue my legacy” meaning attached to it. but then today we get chen wen hao taking out his own fancy lighter (while tang yi glares at him with such intense hatred that i kept expecting an energy ray to come out of his forehead like combustion man from a:tla and just fucking blow chen wen hao to smithereens...missed opportunity if you ask me), right before a flashback in which bffs chen wen hao and tang guo dong are on the run from enemies and decide to take a quick smoke break (which like, do you have time for this? but ok) but neither of them brought a lighter with them. what does it meeeeeannnn
