Based Out of New York
1. When and how was your brand created?
TRAPVILLA was a concept We had in mind for a while now, actually it started out as a media consulting company. We started pushing merchandise and music early 2013. After we decided to incorporate fashion and more media we revived a lot of love and support from our city. TRAPVILLA is a reflection of what NY city youth is, youth all over America really. We didn’t come into the game with a set plan. We just came in being ourselves.
2. What’s the message that you want your brand to spread?
Grinding.
Our brand is all about grinding. There’s millions of young talented people in this world that never saw the capability of their talents until they start to GRIND. If we can get at least one person to look at our brand an associate it with working hard we’ve done our job. Real shit
3. How does music affect your brand ?
Music and TRAPVILLA are one in the same. Our music represents us as much as what we wear; it’s our expression. We grind everyday as artists and TRAPVILLA clothing is our uniform. Our brand is 50% music, Music has a very big affect on us as a collective. Music is what ties the brand together with everything else we are aspiring to do right now and in the near future. If it wasn’t for our vision for music we wouldn’t even be a brand today.
4. Have you guys participated in any fashion shows or other shows?
We’ve been to a lot of colleges in the last 3 years since we’ve been doing merchandise. We actually did a show in Baltimore for underground artist not to long ago. We sold out. Shout out to BMORE. The trap fuck wit y’all
5. Which product is the most popular with customers ?
Our most popular product would be the “YOU CANT TRAP WITH US” attire. The motto was actually inspired by the movie Mean Girls, which shows that trap culture has no racial boundaries, if you can’t trap with us, it aint about your skin color—its about your work ethic. Since we’ve dropped that our following has grown tremendously. The concept came at a good time for urban culture. It’s one of those perfect place and time sort of thing. We think it’s a phrase that people associate with hard work.
6. What’s is the main target audience of your brand?
As far as demographics go it’s defiantly 16-25. But as far as concept and vision, our target audience is anyone who identifies with our message, whether it’s “you can’t trap with us” or “trap york times”, Anybody that’s a hustler is our target . If you have a vision to better yourself, better your situation, and better your life that’s who we want to represent our brand- you are the voice and the face of the streets. TRAPVILLA sees you and fucks with you.
7. If you had to pick one actor/actress , one professional athlete and one musician/artist who would they be?
This is a hard one lol.
It’s too many great artist that we’d love to represent what we got going. There’s actually a few who already support and we fuck with them for that. But we’ll get back to this question in our follow up interview.. We won’t forget this question lol. Real shit
8. What makes your brand different from other brands?
We step up street fashion in a way that incorporates clean typography with a message straight from Brooklyn; so you understand it loud and clear. Our ability to mix grungy aesthetics with very clean designs is where we separate ourselves from everyone else the most. We put out the best quality in all our materials, clothes and music. There is a lot of brands out right now that have “TRAP” as their focal point, the key is to provide an experience for your followers. That’s what we do-Provide an experience you can’t find anywhere else.
8. What are some inspirations behind the design of the brand?
We are inspired by seeing our customer comfortable. What would you want to wear? The vibe right now is super comfortable clothing that’s either unaffordable or too generic. A lot of brands mass produce generic work with good material and people settle. We are uncompromising on our message, but we are taking every opportunity to further the physical quality of our clothing, and you can see that in every new collection. We’ve been producing for shirts for awhile now so we know what it takes. Also we have a great eye for detail so we make our material last long. Quality over quantity. Authentic over Hype..that’s how we coming.
10. Where would you like to see your brand in 3 years? a blueprint.
In 3 years we want to create a blueprint that other young creatives can look towards so they know anything is possible. We want to break barriers musically and in fashion. We don’t want to be in the industry we want an industry of our own. That’s exactly what we are going to do.
