It’s time to take out the trash
I am going to go hunting for comfortable, smaller-sized dust masks because adult-sized head coverings that consider the size of your head important are waaaay too big, I mean, I wear kid-sized hats. And I wear glasses. The shaped dust masks make my glasses fog up so badly.
They do help when I’m working outside before it’s warmed up because it helps retain heat and moisture instead of leaving my trying to hack up my asthmatic lungs due to the cold, dry air, or sawdust, or lawn clippings, or piles of leaves, or people burning their fucking trash/lawn debris *strangles*. (Scarves are my friends. Along with gloves and fuzzy socks. Because Raynaud’s.)
Trash burning worldwide significantly worsens air pollution
A country so clean and green they want to buy garbage from the U.S.? Yep, our trash might become Oslo's fuel...

Was Bin Laden burning his trash in the direction of Mecca?
Yesterday, various media posted more detailed pictures of Bin Laden's compound.
Questions are going to be asked about how he lived there, but one thing already surprises me: the Ladens were burning their trash in the direction of Mecca.
This is the layout that was posted, with the trash burning location circled over in green:
Now try this at home:
Open Google Earth and find Mecca (or Kaaba), then find Bin Laden's Hideout. Easy enough with the search function.
Use the ruler tool to find the shortest distance between the two points. This will create a so-called 'rhumb line', and is the method that muslims use to find the 'qibla' , direction of Mecca, needed for their daily prayers.
This is how this rhumb line arrives to Bin Laden's compound:
The trash burning location is exactly in the direction of Mecca from his house, even though there was plenty of space away from that direction (and further away from the house). Quite puzzling to me.
Was this on purpose? Or did OBL not care about the direction of Mecca? Maybe one of our muslim friends can explain this?
And if we draw a rhumb line starting out from Jerusalem, then it enters exactly from the main gate. Was this by design? :
While you are using the ruler tool, take note how OBL compound is 3512 km away from Mecca (Kaaba). This is an almost exact match with the number of days he lived after the 911 attacks: 3520 days.
And the Temple Mount in Jerusalem can be measured as 3494 km away from his house, also a very close match.
Some nice coincidences?
