Special thanks to @snowflakeimagines for her help with some sections of this, and, of course, to @trashybonecan. We wrote this together. I will freely admit that I cried writing parts of it. It's so beautiful! Congratulations, Boss and Trashy!!!
Also, Trashy drew some absolutely gorgeous art to go with this. I've asked her to submit it and then I will post that as well. The story is quite long, so I'm putting in a Read More after a certain point. Be sure to click it and read the whole thing!
The Old Town Church in Ebott City was a beautiful old cathedral, complete with stained glass windows and gargoyles perched on the outer corners. Inside, the vaulted ceiling rose high, high above the congregation. Sounds echoed off the stone walls. When the choir sang, it sounded like hundreds of voices rising together. When the bells in the tower rang, you could hear them through the whole city.
Tonight the bells rang out joyously as guests walked into the church. The inside had been transformed. Candles flickered. Red and black silk had been draped along the pews, as well as dozens of red roses. Someone had positioned an old iron gate like a trellis for more roses behind a small table that held a guest book and an old fountain pen. Rose petals were scattered along the aisle, standing out against the dark stone floor. More roses covered the altar, except for the large black and gold book that sat in the center. The room was filled with excited whispers as handsome skeletons helped everyone find their seats.
Once all the guests were seated, the organ began to play a prelude. The doors swung open to reveal a woman and a skeleton walked arm in arm. The woman had dark hair pulled into an ornate style and decorated with a pink rose. It matched the black and pink hanfu she wore. Her skeleton companion wore a pink rose in the buttonhole of his dark suit. The two of them walked to the altar and stepped to either side. “Lookin’ good, Snow,” the skeleton said in a stage whisper.
“You too, big guy,” she whispered back.
The music changed to a march and everyone turned to look back at the doors again. A taller skeleton walked in with his skull held high, marching with the precision of a military man. The candlelight glinted off the silver skull pin on his scarlet cravat, the silver buttons on his waistcoat, and the ruby orb in the head of his cane. He stopped at the altar and looked at the shorter skeleton. Even with the organ, those near the altar could hear him whisper, “You didn’t forget anything, right brother?”
“I’m on it, Boss,” his brother answered. “Don’t worry. Just watch for Trashy.”
Boss nodded and looked at the doors expectantly.
The music changed to the traditional wedding march, and everyone stood to watch the bride make her grand entrance.
Trashy had her head low, her fingers fumbled with the flowers in her tiny hands, scattered with red roses, passion flowers, and lavender hanging. The doors rattled before slowly opening, presumably because of magic with silk attached to the door handles. Her heart was pounding out of her chest as she finally looked up, the same red tint of her rose scattered dress was dusting her cheeks. The lights shone down making her dress glow with yellow highlights, same as the hints of gold embroidery on her bodice. The long veil following behind her movement in the gold cross stitched lace of her hair. Her big eyes fluttered with red mascara as she crossed over the room before landing on Boss, she smiled flusteredly with her eyes swimming in nothing but pools of love and adoration for him. In a rarity, he got to see the embarrassed lilt to them as well along her now wobbly smile.
Arm-in-arm with her was Otoro, a family friend who treated Trashy like his own daughter. Half of his suit was red and the other was blue; both sides were patterned with faint silver outlines of fish scales. His indigo fedora had been decorated with two roses, one red and one blue, and he wore another red rose in his pocket to complete the look. His lips were pressed tightly together, as if he'd burst out bawling if he didn't keep his mouth shut, but he reached up to tip his hat in his family's direction when he met their eyes.
Trashy gave his arm a squeeze. "Oto-san..." Beneath her own tears, there was a hint of fond laughter in her voice.
Otoro could only manage an indignant, shaky hum in response.
The guests gasped in delight as she made her way up the aisle. Next to Boss, Red whispered, “Holy—“ only be stopped by a warning hand on his chest. Boss was transfixed on the vision of beauty coming toward him. His eyelights turned to hearts as she drew closer and closer. His soul hummed in his chest, unheard over the organ but very much singing to her soul, calling her to him.
Otoro and Trashy slowed to a stop just before reaching the altar. Otoro lifted a trembling hand to pet Trashy's hair, visibly choking down his sobs. “Oh... My little koi fish is all grown up... S-She's leaving the pond for the big sea already…” There was an almost childish whine in his watery voice, but as he removed the rose in his pocket and gently tucked it behind Trashy's ear, a proud smile suddenly broke across his face. “Heh... You really do take after your father.” He bent and kissed the top of Trashy's head. “I love you,” he murmured against her hair.
He held her for a few moments longer. During those moments, his eyes found Boss’. Despite the tears falling from them, he blinked not a single time as he pointed to Boss’ pelvis, then made a snipping motion.
I’ve done it before, he seemed to be saying. I’ll do it again.
With that last-minute message delivered, Otoro released Trashy at last. “Off you go,” he whispered, tipping his fedora at her with a cheeky -- albeit extremely shaky -- smile. He took his seat with his family and watched his daughter join the love of her life at the altar.
The Pastor was dressed in a very formal and traditional black suit with a red tie. He stood from his spot in the front pew and made his way behind the altar. He beamed at the bride and groom, the attendants, and the guests. Spreading his arms wide, he spoke. “Friends, my name is Pastor Jeff. I am so glad you are here with me today to celebrate the union of two very special people.” He smiled at Trashy. “I have known Miss Trashy here for years now and I am so grateful that she has found someone who is her perfect mate. Papyrus, I cannot think of anyone more perfect for Trashy than you. If you’re both ready, we can begin.”
Boss nodded, not taking his eyes from Trashy’s face.
Trashy nodded her head with a little smile and a giggle.
The pastor beamed at them. “Very good,” he said. “Now, I know monsters do things a little differently. They give rings like we do, but they’ve got a lot more meaning to them. They literally hold a little bit of the person’s soul, so that they’re giving away a bit of that to their new spouse. Just like for us humans, though, these rings are a symbol of a promise and a commitment, a commitment to love and cherish each other for the rest of your lives, no matter what. Do you have rings with you today, Papyrus and Trashy?”
Boss looked behind him at his brother. For a moment, it looked like Red was going to make a show of trying to find the ring, but he didn’t. Instead, with a grin, he pulled out a small velvet box and pressed it into his brother’s hand. There was a loud PBPPTT! that rang through the whole church. Boss peeled the mini whoopee cushion off the bottom of the box and flung it behind him into the depths of the flowers. He glared at his brother, who shrugged and grinned. “Had to, Boss. Traditions and all that.”
Boss turned his attention to Snow, silently begging her not to participate in the tomfoolery. Snow had a grin like the cat who’d swallowed the canary as she carefully pulled out a matching box and handed it to Trashy. PPBPTPT!!! She couldn’t contain her laughter. She had to turn her head away for a moment as Snow giggled and nuzzled herself against her with that same cheshire grin. She turned to Bossy and winked at him, giving Snow a kiss to her fringe and taking the whoopee cushion off to stuff it into her bra.
“Ooh, ya gotta surprise for later, Boss,” Red sniggered.
Pastor Jeff covered his mouth to hide his own amusement. “If you’re both ready,” he said after a moment, “we can keep going.”
Boss scowled for one more moment before setting his eyes back on Trashy. His face changed into a dreamy smile as he opened the little box and pulled out the black metal ring inside. The candlelight glittered off the red stone set in it. “I have a ring for Trashy,” he said, his voice taking on a serious tone. “My vessel, to show her my promise.”
Trashy had to contain her tears as her shaking hands opened up the box and pulled out a black and red ring with gold skulls curving around the middle. The red eyes of each skeleton glittering with rubies.”I have a ring for Papyrus,” she said, her voice quivering with all the love in the world for him. “My vessel, to show him my promise.”
“Hold the rings in your hands,” Pastor Jeff instructed, “and look at your partner. As you speak the vows you have prepared, think of your love for them. Imagine it filling up the ring all the way. Go ahead.”
Trashy took a deep breath, looking up into his eye lights. “P-Papy…” She swallowed back her tears, knowing Otoro’s was pouring out at this very moment. It made her giggle and she took another sighing breath to stare into her world’s windows to the soul. “Papyrus….In all my life, I have always dreamed of finding a man like you. In my heart, I was in a haze about someone like you coming to love me so dearly, with all that you are. Even with all of my childish ways of love, to know you are here with me right now, bare, is the most precious thing. One I will never ever take for granted. You are far better then anything I could have dreamt of, being with you is like fate in its truest form.”
Her heart pounded as the tears in her eyes overflowed gently, every inch of her soul screaming for him and wanting him forever. With all the ways of passion and ardent heartfelt love it had to offer in its tenderness. “You are my world, my love, my captain, my Papy. I promise to cherish you with everything that I am, to take care of you in sickness and in health. Through pain and through sorrow, and to be benevolent to the soul that you have honored me with the privilege of holding in my hands. No matter what has happened before, no matter what will happen from now on. I will always be by your side, and I will always be yours as you are mine.”
The ring began to glow, the rubies twinkling like red stars of the night. She could painstakingly feel her overwhelming compassion and devotion flow into her ring. Its red glow flashed green, orange, and blue before the colors mixed inside with pearlish waves of the coating in the center around the skulls.“I’m so blessed to be with you, to know who you are. I can’t wait to continue to grow with you Papy. I give you everything that I am and I’ll follow you to the ends of this earth, even its galaxy, through time and space if need be.” Her eyes took on a serious hint, flowing with one new emotion from the other, making everything else turn to white noise except for her eyes locked with his in adoration. “You make my life perfect. You make me perfect. In all of our imperfections. I love you, Papyrus. I love you with all that I am, and I’ll love you till the very last second of time itself stops.”
Tears flowed down Boss’s skull as her words wrapped around him like armor, strengthening him and protecting him, even from his own ugly thoughts. He let her slip the glowing ring onto his finger as he tried to find the words to match hers. Soft sobs came from the guests. Someone whispered, “It’s So Beautiful…” and someone else said, “It’s okay, Papy.”
Boss began to feel everyone’s eyes on him, waiting for his vows, but he was still taking in everything she’d said (and trying to stop his tears). Behind him, he heard a loud blort as Red blew his non-existent nose loudly into a big handkerchief. That bit of brotherly foolishness was enough to get him back on track. He wiped at his sockets with his free hand, turned to give his brother a look that was more grateful than glaring, and then focused all his attention on Trashy.
“Trashy,” he said, as his eyelights turned to hearts again. “My own beautiful, frustrating, amazing, wonderful Trashy. You have changed me so much since I met you. You’ve made me want to become better than I was. My soul was never as full as the night you said you would marry me. I want to keep that feeling, always.” He didn’t have to for this portion of the ceremony, but he reached out and took her hands in his. “I promise to be with you, to protect you, to love and cherish and treasure you all the days of my life. I will provide for you. If I can help it, you’ll never want for anything. I will always come to find you. I will always be there when you need me. My princess, my darling, my soul is yours if you’ll have it. I give it to you now, the very essence of my being. I love you, more than all the stars in the sky, more than all the worlds there might be. Forever.”
With that, he took the ring he’d chosen for her and slipped it onto her finger. It glowed with the pure white light of his soul. As it touched Trashy’s skin, both of them felt something in their chests open, like a flower blooming in the sunlight. Boss brought one hand up to cup her cheek.
Pastor Jeff waited for a moment for everyone to dry their eyes. Then, sounding a bit teary himself, he said, “Now that you have promised your souls to each other, seal that promise with a kiss.”
Boss pulled Trashy into his arms and kissed her with all the passion in his soul. He didn’t need to say it. His love filled her up to overflowing.

SO laughs until they snort with Boss? This ones for you Trashy :3
@trashybonecan
You covered your mouth, trying to hold in your laughter as Boss told you the dramatic story of how he had defeated the evils of the jammed printer at work. The way he told it, it sounded like he’d killed a dragon instead of just repairing office equipment. When he finally struck a heroic pose, you couldn’t hold it in any longer. You nearly fell off your chair laughing.
“HEEHEEEEEEHHHAHEHAAHHHEHAHEEHEHAHAAAA—*SNRK*!!!”
That final *SNRK* hung in the air between you. Boss dropped his heroic pose and stared at you. “Did you just snort?” he asked cautiously.
You wiped at your eyes and tried to catch your breath. “Y-yes,” you managed. “I’m sorry…it was just…so funny!”
“What was funny about that story? It was a serious issue, and I was the only one who could solve it! It’s not funny!”
You took a deep breath and then reached out and patted him on the arm. “I didn’t mean it was funny like silly, Papy,” you said, knowing that he couldn’t stay mad at you when you used that nickname. “I meant it was funny to see you being so dramatic and heroic.” You stroked his arm. “My big strong skeleton, saving the office from the evil copier. You’re a real hero.”
Boss scowled, but only for a moment. “I never can tell if you’re being serious or sarcastic,” he said.
“I’m serious about how proud I am of you,” you said, nuzzling your face against his chest. “And about how much I love you. I’m glad to know I’m marrying a strong hero.”
You felt him relax against you. You tilted your face up for a kiss, which he gladly gave you. Then he asked, “How did you even manage to make that snort? I didn’t think humans were capable of such a noise!”
Unfortunately for Boss, that just set you laughing again.
Heheheh here's my wedding dress and me and Papy wapy together. ;//v//; weewweweew thank you very much for everything it was so much fun and I lomved everything so much. ;v; I will remember these wholesome moments forever in my heart. Isn't this just so beautiful???? Trashy, you did such a good job!!! Boss loves you more than words can say.
Wearing long scarves to keep warm. With Boss. Maybe he sees a certain someone getting cold without one and possibly offers his (coughtrashycough)
“I’ll miss you, Papy,” you said. You didn’t move from the safety of his arms, even though you really did have to go.
“I will miss you as well,” he said. He pressed another kiss to your hair. “I’ll see you again soon.”
“Yeah.”
“And soon we won’t have to say goodbye every night.” He held you closer. “Soon we’ll be married and I’ll have you for my own forever.” He kissed you on the forehead, the cheeks, the lips…
For a moment, you stayed in his arms, both of you longing for that day. You rested your head against his chest. “Just a few more weeks,” you whispered.
Someone outside honked a horn and you jumped. “I should go,” you said sadly.
Boss nodded, equally sad. “Be safe, my love,” he said.
“I will.” You opened the door and a blast of chilly wind hit both of you. Boss pulled off his scarf and wrapped it tenderly around your neck. “Stay warm too,” he said.
The scarf was long on him, wrapping two or three times around his neck and still hanging to his waist. On you, it wrapped five times and hung to your knees. You gathered the dangling ends and pressed them to your face.
“Thank you, Papy,” you said, hurrying back to give him another hug. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
One more kiss. One more hug. Finally, another blast of autumn wind reminded you that the door was still open. You pulled yourself away from your big handsome skeleton. You waved at him as you walked out the door, warm to the bone in his bright red scarf.
Boss and @trashybonecan’s wedding story will post on October 29! I am so happy and excited for them! They’re so cute!!!
We won’t be doing an RP wedding reception like we did with Blue and Ray, but feel free to let me know what you’d wear to their costume party reception. You can also send in a little something that you might write in their guest book. I’ll save all of them up and post them for Trashy to see after the wedding story. 😉
