Scott hurries over to take his husband into his embrace, wrapping his arms around his neck in an affirming hug. It never gets easy, seeing the strongest people you know appear weak before you, and it only gets harder when you’re married to them.

His mind is buzzing with questions. What happened, who was it, who did this, but for the time being he’s silent. His arms unwrapping only so he can hold his lover’s face in a deep kiss, helping Stephen to feel every once of love and concern he had for him. Pulling away only to catch his breath and see those sorrow filled golden blue eyes clearly.

“Whatever happened, it’s over, okay? You’re safe now. I’m here. I’m here.”

And he sealed the space between them with another deep kiss.

the suit had never been built to keep him alive, it’s only purpose was to be able to wield the stones long enough for him to snap and destroy thanos. it had done that, tony wasn’t supposed to live. but somewhere between snapping his fingers and the agonising sensation of the stones burning him from the inside out tony realised he was still alive - he wasn’t dead yet. 

his body slumped, the slowing beat of his heart feeling louder now than it ever had. unable to move, tony kept his head up, but his eyes though exhausted and fighting to stay open managed to finally focus on stephen. he’d known this whole time, he’d known it would come down to this. 

he swallowed, throat dry, the taste of blood on his tongue when he finally managed to speak.            ‘ you’re- real bossy. ’         but the hand that hadn’t been burnt beyond repair reached and his fingers curled around the sorcerers just enough to lightly squeeze.               ‘ we won. it’s okay. ’             his eyelids grew heavier, the fight left in him becoming less and less able to keep them open.                ‘ you did-.. good, wizard.’           tony rested his head back and his fingers squeezed just once more, allowing his eyes to shut.
