WARREN KOLE & MICHAEL EALY as Wes Mitchell & Travis Marks in Common Law 1.01
Also just in case I have not convinced you to go pick up Common Law, please see this little clip as my plea to go do it.
And if you can't find it online, don't worry, feel free to check here.
I recommend you getting VLC media player if you don't already have it x3
I really just wanna share these two goobers, they bring me a lot of smiles 😊
And before you ask; yes, would. I love my twink ass boyfriend and his much cooler boyfriend.
I might start posting more Common Law content ngl. It would be so cool if the show got revived :3
Okay I know this fandom hardly exists but listen. Travis and Wes both contrast each other and are the same at the exact same time and that's wonderful to me I need to share
Wes has abandonment issues. I think that's the most obvious thing about him considering he cannot move on from Alex even over a year later. Most people they used to know think they're still married, he never took her off his car insurance, he still takes care of the lawn and brings her flowers and groceries when they aren't together and he doesn't even live there. He won't even get a new house. The only reason he takes her off his car insurance is because his car getting total prompts him to because she asks him why she's still on it. PLUS do we even talk about him stalking her and getting mad she started dating. Travis, on the other hand, is the one who abandons. Considering his upbringing, this is likely due to his own abandonment issues, but his way of coping is the exact opposite of Wes. He never keeps relationships, he moves on from one woman to the next, he's the first to leave. Wes is just kind of Like That and always a bit of an arsehole, but when Travis is mean, it's intentional and motivated and supposed to hurt deep. He's very good at avoiding the hurt of being abandoned by leaving first and never holding long relationships, completely contrasting Wes, who was married for 8 years before Alex divorced him, was probably dating her for a while before marriage, and has so obviously not moved on.
Neither of them live in a permanent home. Travis lives in a trailer, Wes lives in a hotel. Travis' home is much more stable since it's his, he's independent and he isn't tied down anywhere. Wes' isn't a home at all. It's a hotel. It isn't his, he isn't free to do whatever he wants with it, he's paying god knows how much to stay there. They're complete the same and yet they're opposites– Travis is free, Wes is bound, neither of them have a permanent home. Travis likely prefers it that way, since he never really had a home growing up in the foster system and being passed between 18 families. He got used to never being tied down, he got used to being on the move and needing to look out for himself. Wes, on the other hand, had a stable home with Alex for at least 8 years. Living with Alex is the only home he wants, and the fact that he won't even find an actual place to live is reflective of his feelings about Alex and the divorce, and his inability to move on
The little things in this show are fun 💭 I'm so sad it aired in 2012 I need it to have a fandom </3 Even more sad it got cancelled I miss them so bad. If they fucked nasty it wouldn't solve their problems and would actually likely make them worse but they should have tried it
