Let's Get Down To Business (aka Training Tara)

Tara eagerly followed behind Loki on their way to the training area. He had promised one-on-one magic training but had been too busy in recent days to fulfill his oath. Today, though, he had made time mid-afternoon for her and she had been buzzing with nervous anticipation since.

Once they crossed the threshold, she broke off from his side and grabbed one of the hefty training staffs from the wall. It's the weapon the Warriors Four had introduced to her that she felt the most comfortable with. The dense wood was still heavy in her hand, since her strength was far below that of the Asgardians, but she had gotten used to the weight and was finding it easier to wield the more she practiced.

She used the staff to stretch out her arms and back as she loosened up. "So!" She excitedly spun back around to face Loki, starting to lazily twirl the staff between her hands. "What's on the docket for today?"

“ and then ⸻ ”  she’s standing on @trckstrgod​‘s desk,  half-full whiskey glass clutched precariously in one hand.  she’s made a makeshift old-fashioned with loki’s good whiskey,  a packet of sweet’n low, and a piece of orange chewing gum.  at least she’s considerate enough not to step on any of his papers.  or his laptop.  his coffee mug is a lost cause,  though.  she kicked that to the ground about fifteen minutes ago. whoopsie.  

     “ oh,  i’m really not supposed to talk about this,  but we’re friends now,  right,  lokes?  can i call ya that?  anyways!!  there was this giant starfish,  maybe you saw that in the news?  so we made a deal,  got those chips in our brains deactivated,  and now . . . i’m here.  any questions?  oh.  maybe you wanna know why i broke in in the first place?”

                    Tove is angry; it's one thing for Heimdall to not send her down to Midgard without her father's permission (even though she still thinks that it's crap because she's the future queen and thus should be allowed to do whatever she wants, right?), but it's a whole other thing that father refused to give this permission. She has to go! Who else will get papa's shield back? Clearly, father has no interest in doing so, even though that shield is important to papa, and that alone should be reason enough to do everything in his power to get it back. That's what you do when you love someone. They taught her that, and yet they don't act like it.

                    Whatever. If Heimdall refuses to listen to her orders, and if father is too occupied with being king instead of husband, Tove will save the day. And she knows perfectly well who can help her with that. "Uncle Loki!" she hollers when she storms into his chambers. "Please, I need your help. It's of utmost importance!" Actually, why she even bothered asking Heimdall is beyond her. Her uncle can do magic. He can travel through the worlds without needing Bifröst, which is so much more powerful and way cooler. She should have asked him right away. "Will you help me?" she says again and then adds the puppy eyes because she knows they usually help her in getting what she wants.

❛    — sure,   the   name’s   o’sullivan.   ❜          the   head   waiter   nods   and   quickly   skims   the   table   reservations.         yes,   mister   o’sullivan,   your   table   is   ready.   please,   follow   me.         and   he   does.   casually   scans   the   well - known   location   as   he   passes   other   guests.   in   fact,   none   of   them   well - heeled,   but   filthy   rich   instead,   with   influence   and   significance   in   one   way   or   another.   he   knows,   for   he   has   been   with   some   of   them.

the   waiter   escorts   him   to   his   table    and   promises   to   send   the   sommelier   within   the   next   minutes.   joseph   has   a   seat.   he   makes   sure   tie   and   jacket   are   in   the   right   place,   before   leaning   back.   one   arm   remains   on   the   table,   fingertips   consecutively   tapping   on   the   surface.   he   knows   what   to   do.   knows   how   to   behave.   relaxed   posture,   as   he   patiently   waits   for   his   client   to   arrive.

     The grip to her arm has her halting in her tracks, swift to turn about on heel to reveal that vibrant cerulean in her gaze. Did he think she would just come with him so willingly? After everything they’ve been through together? 

     Dark brows furrow in arising agitation, daring to steal a step closer to him rather than remove her arm from his grasp, her features just mere inches away from his own. It’s just a single words she states to him, but by the gods does it feel good to say.

     “No”

❛    knock  knock,    ❜      thor  says,   though  he  hadn’t  actually  bothered  to  knock.   he’s  invited  himself  into  loki’s  rooms  as  he  always  does,   as  if  he  hasn’t  been  away  for  months.   he’s  covered  in  flour,   betraying  that  his  first  stop  after  getting  off  the  plane  was  not  the  palace,   but  sif’s  bakery.   (  and  .  .  .  then  there  was  brunch  with  sigyn.  )  ❛   hi,   loki.  blame  your  fiancée  for  my  late  arrival.   this  a  bad  time?  ❜   //  @trckstrgod​

          serene voice echoed through the chambers , the trickle of the water adding to it . she quite enjoyed taking long baths . she was soaked in rose water , white and red petals floating on the surface to where she was hidden from the chest down . a hand escaped the flora to slide across the smooth flesh of her arm before going to rub at her shoulder . she sang soothingly , a hymn bouncing off the walls and floating down the halls from the chamber .

‘ no  --no! ’ dainty hands push against his chest, eager to keep him back from her, lest she melt and forgive him. there are fresh tears in her eyes ( ones she has held back since the rumors reached her ) and they slip slowly down her cheeks as she steps back; the wet streaks upon her skin even more apparent in the firelight.

her throat aches with the need to scream, to let him know just how much her chest burns because of him. the heart in her chest is more pained with each beat, it has not stopped hurting for days-- and now? seeing him? it is a pain she has never known. the pain of all the love she has shown him, the feeling of the home she had thought they’d found in each other burned to ash and ruin.

‘ you do not get to sweep in here and expect me to fall into your arms and be relieved you have graced me with your presence. as if nothing has happened. ’ blue eyes search for anywhere else to look that is not him before sigyn turns her back to him, pressing fingertips to her lips to calm herself before she can face him again.

‘ tell me, did you think of me at all? or did you forget i existed when you were in her bed? while i was here in our marriage bed, hoping you would return soon. ’ her voice grows louder, echoing off the ceilings of their rooms. ( servants are crouched outside their door, listening eagerly, hungry for the gossip fodder their fight will provide ) ‘ or did you only think with that thing between your legs? ’

but she cannot sustain such anger and her expression soon crumbles, ‘ i love you. and you have broken me. ’
