you've always made aaron & roy come alive for me. your writing both seems effortless and carefully thought out and your character development has always been something to be envied. seriously, i love how you've constructed actual people out of this character and your fluidity with them just makes them both feel very real. in short, ur gr9 & i'm forever envious of your skill.
aaaaaa my goodness thank you. they’re both important to me, but aaron is REALLY important to me because his collection of issues (even disregarding his d.i.d.) are so rarely touched on, even in literature. i just want to make people aware of the fact that so many of the unseen, under-acknowledged issues and hardships he experiences are something that so many people do actually go through
but there is no need to envy me, you yourself are 100% capable of the same skill. i believe in u <3
@trcpidation She reminds him of someone, but he’s never seen her before in his life; she reminds him of a figure out of fairy-tales, so pale she nearly dissolves into the freshly painted wall behind her.
The one with white skin like snow...oh, Snow-White, yes, she reminds him of Snow-White.
From the way she’s dressed, he can only presume she was picked up for partying, and he wonders how she managed to survive the snow-fall outside in something that sheer and revealing.
“Evening,” Jim says, leaning against the wall across from the young woman. “You look cold, ah..” and off goes his jacket and he remembers at the last minute that it was washed last week and might smell like a mingling of his cologne and deodorant.
He extends it to her and there’s a smile at the edge of his mouth.
“There’s hot chocolate tonight, in honor of the snow; want me to get you some?”
Into the Dark
@trcpidation
“RAHSSS!”
In a blaze of piercing red, the scattergun fired into the dark, piercing one tattered, wriggling body after another- the head of one, sending it to the floor in a plume of dust, the shoulder of another, yanking it backward only to be shoved aside by an oncoming third. Too dark was the old grocery store’s unlit interior, he’d been unable to count the vermin within. But supplies were scarce, and in need he’d ventured inside, not blinded to the dangers, but not fully prepared, either.
The third was too quick- not enough time to reload. A combat knife was in its place, yanked from his hip in time to swipe the worm blade across the rabid ghoul’s jaw. The momentum drove the creature into a spiral, but it recovered quickly and was at him again, the other now swiftly approaching behind it. With little time, he sheathed the knife and threw the scattergun back into sight, this time allowing himself just enough starving seconds to line up the shot- just the right shot- and fired.
One exploded into glowing dust, the other seized by a flurry of red beams which tore at its impossibly frail and spidery body, however only enough to send it back to the floor in hissing agony. Without hesitating, the mercenary pressed forward to meet it, towering above before ending the creature’s final miserable moments with one more blast of the laser automatic. Dead, and for good.
He took a moment to survey the surroundings, double checking between the isle he stood within and the shadows beyond for any others. There would likely be more, however it appeared he’d cleared this portion of the store...for the time being.
“What happens if you die in Hell?” “Double Hell.”
“Is… is that how that works? I find it very unlikely.”
