I totally don't want to be here right now. I almost didn't. My mom asked if I wanted to meet her at the gym at 5pm and here I am an hour later (oops!). If she didn't ask me to go to the gym, I doubt I would've came. She's not here anymore obviously, but at least I made it. Summer Brewfest is this Saturday and I told my cousin today that if I don't track on ETools today, tomorrow, and Friday; go to the gym today, tomorrow, and Friday; and clean my room and car for when she gets here, I won't be able to go. So now I'm accountable for doing all that because Brewfest only comes once a year and I want to go! I also only drink beer once a year haha.
Today, I got interviewed by the local newspaper. It's actually a pretty funny story. I got a phone call yesterday and I didn't pick up because I thought someone was going to ask me to work on my day off and I was going to let them leave me a voicemail if they were desperate. I did get a voicemail and I listened to it and heard "Hi! My name is Joy and I'm from the Webster Times (the local newspaper). I received an email from the Jimmy Fund saying that you and another woman from Webster are doing the Boston Marathon in September. We'd like to do a little article about you two." In my head, I was thinking, Why do they want to interview me? I'm not that special. All I did was sign up for a walk.
I immediately called back and she told me that she wanted to meet up to get to know why I'm walking and all that stuff and to wear something that I thought would represent the walk. Again, I'm like, Damn... I don't have any clothes that has to do with the walk and I don't know anyone who was affected by cancer. My dad and I forgot to pick up our official Jimmy Fund team shirts on Saturday and they were mailed to the house, so they should be here any day now. I had to think really hard on how I was going to translate the walk into a t-shirt. Why did I sign up for this walk? Well, the Jimmy Fund is our chapter's local philanthropy and I wanted to keep them in mind even though I'm no longer an active (obviously I'm not if I graduated). So I wanted to make letters, but what kind of fabric could I use? The Jimmy Fund logo? That would be impossible to find. What goes with The Jimmy Fund?... RED SOX! Red Sox is a huge supporter of The Jimmy Fund and that should be easy fabric to find! WRONG! I went to Jo Ann Fabric, Michael's, AC Moore, and 3 different Wal*Marts and absolutely nothing. Jo Ann Fabric and one Wal*Mart had Red Sox fleece, but no fabric. I gave up and went to plan B... I cut up mens Red Sox pajama bottoms and used that as fabric haha. I wanted to keep them for myself, but obviously couldn't haha. Long story short, I drove all through Worcester county for Red Sox fabric just to cut up a pair Red Sox bottoms for one stupid picture in a local newspaper haha.
At least I'm in the paper for doing something good instead of in the obituary or going to jail for something. Hopefully it will help me get more donations too. Its going to a good cause (plus its tax deductible!). I definitely have to wear my ActiveLink that day. I'm curious to see how many points it will be for walking 26.2 miles. I bought a camel back too. I saw one for the first time when I went to Color Me Rad when two of my friends wore it. I'm almost positive it'll be 100% better than the string bag that I wore for the Project Bread walk. The string bag was bouncing off my back where's the camel back should hug my body. Plus it can hold 3 liters of water. I'm pretty sure its was the best $40 I spent. Speaking about the best things I've ever bought... I just got an email from Barnes & Noble saying that my Hunger Games blu ray has been shipped! That means I may possibly be getting it on Friday!!! And speaking about getting this in mail... my brand new computer should be coming in the same day!!! Then again, my Jimmy Fund shirts for me and my dad should be coming in any day! Now all I need is a weight loss tomorrow haha :-P
