Princess Cadance is a descendant of Princess Amore. She was found as a baby in the woods, for unknown reasons.

A common theory I've seen of Princess Cadance is this:

After Sombra turned Amore into a statue and scattered her pieces across the world, one of those pieces ended up in a forest and transformed into Cadance. Logically it must've taken around 1000 years for this piece of Amore to transform into Cadance, and the exact reason for why and how that even happened is unknown.

Theory: the roots of the still growing Tree of Harmony found a piece of Amore, and over the course of 1000 years formed it into Cadance.

This also explains why Princess Cadance (and Shining Armor) are classified as the Elements of Love, despite not being represented on the Tree of Harmony.
