We had a basic-course in 3D with some Z-brush and Maya.
In the last 4 days we had to create a small animation while using playblast in Maya.
The idea I created in the storytelling course. The sentence “If you want to make it interesting, do something unpredictable.” got stuck in my head and seriously, after so many days of having to create story after story all my head was able to produce was “...it’s quite uncommon for a tree growing out of an egg and then having feathers instead of leaves...”
I used a lot of time trying to animate the growth of the tree with blendshape... in the end that’s a very small part of it all, but in the last night before deadline (I stayed at school until 5 pm. haha) I modelled and animated the buds and feathers and while I was really, really tired, I also started enjoying the work and the outcome.
There would still be a lot of work needed. I was constantly afraid that Maya would crash so I didn’t put in as many feathers as I wanted, and of course they should float around differently. All in all the use of Houdini would be good with that maybe.
The song is Part VII from Prequell. My co-student introduced me to the music of Prequell and I instantly knew I had to use one of his songs for the animation. :)

He crashed the shuttle into the hanger bay causing three Imperial droids to die. He jumped out of the shuttle and shot down five crew members that were in the bay. A large squadron of Stormtroopers aimed their blasters at Inonok. It was at this moment Inonok knew he was outnumbered. "Drop your weapon!" yelled the Stormtrooper Commander. Inonok dropped his blaster and put his hand behind his head. A female Imperial Grand Admiral with black hair and brown eyes approached Inonok after the Stormtroopers cleared the area. She was being followed by two Death Troopers. Inonok got on his knees as soon as she approached him. "Well well well, you are an interesting fellow. Normally we would have you executed but I think we will make you an exception." she said. Inonok smirked as he reached his hand on his back. "I assume you're the one in charge?" Inonok asked. "I am," she responded. "Alright, just one thing." Inonok said. Inonok grabbed a thermal detonator from his back and threw it onto the floor. "Grenade!" yelled a Stormtrooper. The detonator exploded which killed ten Stormtroopers and one Death Trooper. Inonok reached for his blaster and shot the other Death Trooper. He turned to the left only to be stun blasted by an Imperial Commander. Inonok fell on his front side as the grand admiral got back on her feet.
Three hours later the Star Destroyers left Tregg and went back to Emikobb. Inonok was transported out of the destroyer and onto the Imperial Base. He woke up to the sight of Grand Admiral Lenev. "This is the one, Grand Admiral Gudanna?" Lenev asked. "No, he was not the one who reprogrammed the droids. However, he did take part in an unrelated crime." Gudanna answered. "What crime did he commit?" Lenev asked. "A heist in Tepasi, and the murder of Elvo Raaf." she revealed.
