Thor was in the middle of finishing….he wasn't sure what number of tankard of mead he was on. He'd been in here practically since the morning, trying to dull the pain. While he hadn't been the best father by any stretch of the imagination, he had loved Magni and Modi. And now they were gone.

He let out a short laugh at his brother's words, a derisive smile on his face when he met the younger god's eyes.

"From what everyone's been saying, it's gonna happen no matter what," he said, his tone bitter. Despite the fact that he had done everything his father asked, he was still seen as an oafish brute. So why shouldn't he lean into that, especially right now? It meant that people left him alone most of the time, after all, and right now, he just wanted to keep drinking until he couldn't feel anything at all.

Truth be told, Atreus was still getting used to meeting other people, let alone other gods. Before Mother had died and he and Father had set out on their quest to fulfill her dying wish, he had really only ever seen his parents, after all. Which was why he was still kind of figuring out how to react to others in a way that wouldn't be seen as naïve or rude.

At the other's words, Atreus starts, realizing that he'd kind of been staring again.

"Right, sorry!" he exclaims, slinging his bow across his chest to help him carry the large deer. He wasn't nearly as strong as his father (yet, he hoped), but he could still help carry a deer.

" she sighs irritably and leans back against the wall behind her. her attitude is not directed at vaylaria, even if seems like it. her frustration lies in the phrase itself, the greater good. how often is it used lately to justify someone sacrificing themselves or sacrificing someone else. she's tired of hearing it, especially from people who are in the former category. often, helena is surprised at how difficult it seems to be to watch nervanna go. seeing her back as she walks through the front gates and sacrifice more of herself for a cause no one else can lead. she worries, that despite how capable nervanna and her party are, that there will be something even more. but this is the nature of caring for someone, even more when that someone is important. not just to her, but to everyone. her anxiety almost seems miniscule to what others feel.

it takes everything in her not to ask her to stay, or at least take her along. but that's not helpful and it's certainly not what nervanna needs right now. so, she'll stand near the gate and watch her leave. catch her eye and wave with her small smile. that will have to be enough.

this is her plan and helena is sticking to it. so she's surprised (again) when nervanna makes her way over and kisses her forehead. a tender gesture that makes her beam and grasp at the other woman's fingers. lena doesn't speak, but rather kisses her hand in response. it's all that needs to be said at the moment, to calm helena's own anxieties. a promise that she will still be here as long as the other promises to come back.

Tanner's too busy gawking at the swirling dust where a hoard of yales had been. Artemis was going to kill him. Maybe that was what Apollo was here for. It didn't seem like her, but they'd never met so what did he know. Arm stings where he'd been caught by one of the odd shaped horns. Blood pools in his curled fist. He wheezes on every inhale, eyes wide. The burst of new power had taken him as off guard as it had the monsters. A sudden fierce invisible wind had decimated them into nothing. Purified, he might say had he not just killed what was supposedly an endangered species. He'd accidentally crossed their path before when traveling above ground out of New York years ago.

"What?" Why hadn't he just taken off when charged? It was like sometimes he completely forgot he had wings. So used to ducking about in the dark to avoid being murdered given flight didn't work in the deepest pits of existence. Tanner had done nothing but freeze and try to mentally prepare himself to get gored when something in him just snapped-reacted like a too tightly wound string. "No-no, no, no. Not lucky. Well-lucky, yeah, but not if your sister shoots me in the next thirty seconds." Eyes finally flick about, waiting for the other archer. Now when he steps back does his foot hit solid air and get him off the ground.

His eyes had been closed, as he'd just woken up from a nap--his first under the Colosseum. Everyone, including his parents, had been surprised when Aulus Petronius Triarius, esteemed member of the equitus class, had chosen to leave his privileged life and become a gladiator. Those who weren't shocked were excited. "Aula" (to his friends and those who knew about his unique sense of self) was an excellent soldier, so he'd be a wonder to watch in the arena. He had no idea what the man who had addressed him thought.

Aula sat up, restricted by the chains and handcuffs that'd been put on him. He blinked, trying to adjust to the darkness as he peeked through the bars of his cage. The man across from him, several feet away, stood free. He seemed to be blond and wearing a toga, but that was all Aula could make out, for the stranger stood in shadow.

"And how do you know me?" Aula asked, more curious than anything else. He wondered if the man was a friend of his parents, who'd come to check on him.

The Realm of Skyrim

Shireen had, she knew, in all likelihood passed out in a dark corner of Castle Black having wandered about far past the point of exhaustion in her bid to avoid the nightmares she knew were waiting for her the moment she went to bed. However, a dark and seldom used alcove was not where she had awoken. Slowly sitting up, bringing her charred stag figurine- thankfully that was still with her- onto her lap with both hands, the girl looked about herself in confusion. She was outside, and, though the wind was cool, it was not as biting as it should have been given the cruel power of winter...

Where was she? How had she gotten here?

Pulling herself to her feet, half of the mind that she was still dreaming and that a nightmare was sure to soon follow, she made her way down the path she had found herself on; and quickly realised that there were no landmarks that she recognised as she continued to gaze around the area. Knowing that she had to continue forward regardless as, if this was not a product of her sleeping mind, she would likely need help to return back to her mother, she pushed herself to keep going. With luck, despite prior experience teaching her the contrary, she would find someone willing to assist her...

“Hello?” she called out, not quite daring to hope that her cry would be responded to. “Hello? Please... I am lost and I... I need help. Please, is anyone there? H... hello?”
