Worldbuiltober Day 12: City.

Ninestar is the highest level education center in its area of Treniskoa. It lies in the valley on the borders of a mountain range.

It grew from two trading towns on the two sides of the Stel, the big river in the area. The Stel is fed by nine smaller rivers that find their origin in the mountain range.

Natural resources from the mountains nearby and agriculture in the valleys drew tradesfolk to the Stel. With its temperate, sometimes wet climate, it is very hospitable to farmers and builders alike.

The towns were connected by a series of bridges about two-hundred years ago, permanently linking them.

The Stel soon grew to a big ship trading highway, and Ninestar laid at the perfect place to trade. There was a huge influx of people and knowledge. And that knowledge was treated as valuable as the trading supplies. The first higher schools began battling each other from across the Stel even before the towns were linked.

Though not the political seat of power, its long history of gathering knowledge has made Ninestar a major landmark. It features the top arcane university in the area, a medical university, several general universities, and too many trade and craft schools to properly count.

Working on some visual design of traditional dragonborn dress. They are masters of the dye vat and embroidery needle. Dragonborn generally like geometric, black-work esque embroidery.

Specific embroidery patterns denote heritage, family ties, cultural and group values. Colours are highly individualistic, intended to make both the tunic and the scales of the individual pop. Patterns are passed down in families. You're likely to wear the same pattern of embroidery as your grandparents and great grandparents.

The black and white lad is just a teenager. He's got some growing left, and is long-necked and long-armed as a result.

Dire goats

A takin-like creature domesticated by tieflings for riding and draft work in mountainous or hilly terrain. They're not true goats, but are called diregoats because that's what their name in Infernal meant originally, contrasting them against the small, regular goats. Large, around 140cm at the back, they are very strong and stout.

Diregoats are notoriously stubborn and loyal to a specific rider.

Tieflings use their tails as one of the control points. Pressure on the back of the animal is used similarly to the pressure from the stirrups. Riding gear includes a saddle, neckrope and a backflap- a leather flap flowing from the saddle to make tail movement smoother.

Non tailed species can ride diregoats, imitating the pressure of the tail with a riding crop, but they're more difficult to control that way.

Their shaggy coats have been reduced to a short fuzz on their hindquarters for increased tail communication. The striking white nose, brows, and blue eyes have been bred in. There are several coat types such as blonde, white, spotted or black, but all have the white mask. Other coat structures include long beards, extra short, or extensive piebalding.
