did you guys know that before the summit series, canada sent a couple of scouts out to see what this whole "soviet union hockey team" business was about, and the soviet goalie tretiak had spent the previous day getting HELLA TOASTED at his bachelor party so he was way hungover and it was essentially an exhibition match anyway so he was like, "fuck it, i'm gonna drink as much water as i can and basically do my best not to pass out," so they lost 8-1 and the canadian scouts were like HAHA WOW SOVIET HOCKEY S U C K S
and then two months later the soviets beat them 7-3 in the series' first game and literally all of canada was like
i don't know what the moral of this story is
