“Lucien, wanna see something pretty cool?” A moment of concentration and suddenly there are two of Jester, the other winking playfully, “TA-DA!”  - ( Jester ) @tricktress

      Lucien’s eyebrow raises at her FIRST words and he leans back on the bed for just a moment, ready to let her to whatever she pleases. Jester has been entertaining to keep around, more so than any of her other friends, and while he’s no fool to think that this can go on forever, he does intend on enjoying things while they last.

   Oh and this? This is most defintely going to be ENJOYABLE.

     His lips curve into a smile then and he chuckles, shaking his head ever so slightly. “Well that’s certainly going to be USEFUL.” He then muses beckoning her to come join him on the bed. “And...what do you propose we do with this neat little magic trick, sweetheart?”

84. trying to deny your feelings, but attraction gets the best of you, and you push them up against the wall - ( Jester ) @tricktress​

    It’s been HARD to ignore her, no pun intended, and really, Percy doesn’t want to anymore. She’s clearly been flirting with him and Percy had already thought about extending his stay. He’s done most of the meetings he needs to in Nicodranas, and he deserves a bit of a break.

   “Be CAREFUL, dear.” He mutters, brushing a strand of hair from her face and simply looking at her for a moment where she’s trapped between him and the wall in the corridor. “I could teach you so many things...” 

   And he WANTS to, too, but she has to allow him to do so and Percy sighs, leaning in to brush his lips over the warm skin of her neck, “I should really be going...”

IN   THE   DARK   AND   THE   QUIET,   CALEB   SNUGGLES   IN   CLOSER   TO   JESTER.         both   his   arms   wrap   around   her   from   behind,   nestled   beneath   the   warm,   soft   covers   of   their   bed.      he   presses   a   kiss   to   her   shoulder,   then   to   her   back      —      right   atop   a   scar,   a   slash   healed   over   from   their   battles   in   eiselcross   and   beyond.      he   rests   his   forehead   against   the   back   of   her   head,   breathing   in   the   smell   of   her   deeply.      that   scar   .   .   .      that   day      —      that’s   when   he   nearly   lost   her;      that’s   when   she   nearly   left   them   for   good.      when   he   shuts   his   eyes,   he   can   see   her   bloodied   and   broken,   weeping   and   screaming,   on   the   ground,   lucien   hovering   over   her   after   what   he   has   done.      so   he   does   not   shut   his   eyes. 

“      are   you   asleep?      ”            he   asks   in   a   whisper.      he   won’t   sleep   now      —      not   for   some   time,   at   least.      he   will   need   a   distraction.

A   MUZZLE   ON   HIS   MOUTH,   HANDS   IN   IRON   MITTS   AND   WRISTS   CHAINED   AT   HIS   BACK,   LOCKED   TO   THE   FLOOR   OF   THE   CAPTAIN’S   QUARTERS,   BREN   GLARES   UP   AT   THE   PIRATES   WHO   HAVE   ENTERED.         these   are   strangers,   headed   by   a   blue   tiefling,   followed   close   by   a   dark-skinned   human   woman   and   a   slim   half-orc.      the   half-orc   has   rot,   the   captain   bren   is   far   too   familiar   with   by   now,   in   his   grip,   and   as   the   tiefling   captain   questions   the   chained,   lean   man   on   his   floor,   rot   begins   to   tremble.      that   fills   bren   with   pleasure.   

don’t   unchain   him,   don’t,   rot   cautions,   but   it   comes   as   more   of   a   plea.      he   is   afraid   that   they   will   let   the   wizard   go      —      terrified   as   a   small   goblin   girl   inches   toward   the   kneeling   bren,   lockpicks   at   the   ready   per   her   captain’s   request.      and   he   should   be   afraid.      bren   turns   his   blue   eyes   onto   the   tiefling   captain.      let   me   out,   he   tries   to   petition   with   his   gaze;      set   me   free.

𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐃 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐀𝐍 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐘 𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐄, 𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐉𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐋𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐘 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐀𝐓 𝐃𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐎.     perhaps  it’s  because  jester’s  presence  in  the  world ,  the  energy  that  she  brings ,  is  so  wildly  different  from  anything  that  astrid  has  experienced  before  --  and  it’s  surreal ,  even  in  the  brief  times  that  they’ve  met  ( and  the  sending  spells  that  astrid  has  received )  .     so  when  she  sees  a  familiar  blue  tiefling  enter  --  she  has  no  idea  what  she’s  in  store  for ,  if  anything .          “ jester , ”          she  says  in  greeting ,  an  incline  of  her  head .          “ what . . . brings  you  here ? ”          here  --  to  the  city ,  to  astrid ,  she  isn’t  entirely  certain  which  she  wants  to  know  the  answer  to  most .

      𝐇𝐄'𝐃 𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐃 𝐇𝐈𝐌𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 refrain, but jester was something of an immovable force. she’d made it clear that she had every intention of continuing their father-daughter relationship, regardless of what he’d done in his past to get him where he was today. it was… difficult, considering he’d never thought that she’d find him… & even then, it had always been something of a waking nightmare to imagine that she would condemn him endlessly for his list of crippling mistakes. it had all been done with the intention of love, granted… & perhaps that is what stayed her judgement.

      ❝ you can’t keep doing this, you know, ❞ the gentleman hums, though the disappointment in his tone did not ring true. his lips remain tightly pursed as he stands at her bedside & she stares up at him with a stubbornness that very much reminded him of the ruby. he exhales, pinching at the bridge of his nose for a moment, & then reaches down. the blankets around her are tugged up to her chin, effectively tucking her into one of the beds. she had her own room this time. for whatever reason, the gentleman himself had insisted on it. 

     ❝ ...get some sleep, ❞ he murmurs, almost off-handed were it not for the tinge of affection that he allowed himself. ❝ we’ll talk in the morning. but not too early. ❞

❛ one day,  we’re  going  to  have  to  deal  with  what’s  been  growing  in  the  bag, ❜   caduceus  says  thoughtfully.  things  rot  differently  in  the  bag.  he’s  seen  enough  instances  of  the  decomposing  process,  both  artificially  jumpstarted  &  natural,  that  he  can  tell.  ❛ excited  to  see. ❜

        The words, though he doesn’t SHOW it, hit him harder than he’s expected. He should have known better, has watched her fall in love with him right before his eyes, and Lucien? Well he hadn’t stopped her, how could he?

      He likes to be ADORED, there’s nothing wrong with it, but to be loved? It makes this whole thing a lot more complicated than he’s anticipated. He cocks his head to the side, it’s all hypothetical for now, at least they can pretend it is, so he allows himself to reach out, brushing his fingers against her cheek softly.

“I think that depends which SIDE you’re on, sweetheart.”
