[Prompt: “The paint’s supposed to go where?”]
“The paint’s supposed to go where?”
“On you, apparently.” John squinted at the list of instructions again. “Step five,” he read, “paint Alexander’s face and entire body bright green.”
Alex huffed. “I don’t see how this is fair. Does the paper even say that?” He reached to grab the list from John’s hands.
John snatched it back. “Oh, no, you can’t see this.”
“It doesn’t actually say that!”
John dipped his hand into the bucket of paint and smeared it on the list. “It does now.”
Alex’s jaw dropped. “That’s not how words work!”
“Sure it is. And now,” John tapped the tip of Alex’s nose with his paint-covered finger, “to complete step five.”
Alexander quickly grabbed the bucket of paint and dumped it over John’s head. “Not if I get you first.”
John spluttered, wiping the green off of his eyes. “Alex! We actually had to use this to paint the sidewalk for the day!”
“Sorry,” Alex said, grinning and really not sorry in the slightest.
John rolled his eyes. He took Alexander’s hands and swiftly pulled him into a kiss.
Alexander closed his eyes leaned back into the kiss. John wrapped his arms around Alex, dipping him slightly. John held their bodies close, one hand tousled in Alex’s hair.
John pulled back his lips back slightly, breaking the kiss, his arms still supporting Alex.
Alexander blinked his eyes open. His eyes danced over John’s face as he sighed softly. He smiled contentedly.
“Now you’re covered in paint too,” John whispered.
“Oh, you asshole!”
