Hello I just wanted to say thank you for keeping up your blog!! Specifically because I was having trouble finding references for how I wanted to style my John wig until I stumbled on your ancient John cosplay pics and went thru them for inspo, because the windswept fluffy look is exactly what I want to go for! So, yeah, thanks!
hey np man iâm glad other people get stuff outta me preserving this ancient tablet of shit
hello. this message is for trans people in kansas who are looking to leave asap. I live in colorado, in a relatively cheap rural area. the hospital I work at is hiring a multitude of positions; the job is fine and the wages are adequate at worst and good at best. this is a trans-friendly community in a trans-friendly state. I am happy to act as a reference for you and am happy to connect you to housing resources. please hit up my ask box or email me. feel free to share this post with people who may need this information. thank you, good luck.
"The legislature did not include a grace period."
Here's some more context for the post above (a generous offer I hope some can make use of!) On Feb 23 2026 trans people in Kansas started to receive letters saying that their driver's license had to match their sex assigned at birth, and that any driver's license with an updated gender marker was not valid. Trans folks were directed to surrender their current IDs at the DMV, where they would be issued a new driver's licence that matched their sex assigned at birth. There is NO grace period to handle this ID change, so even if a trans person decided to comply and drive to the DMV the very next day, they could be caught driving without a valid license, they could face a class B misdemeanor carrying up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Kansas already requires county jails to house inmates according to sex assigned at birth. (Read Erin in the Morning's piece above to see a scan of the letter and more info).
One organization seeking to help trans people leave hostile states and relocate to Colorado (which borders Kansas) is the Trans Continental Pipeline, which accepts donations:
Queer Relocation Nonprofit in Denver, Colorado
Now would be a great time to make a donation if you have the means!
so. not to doxx myself (i've talked about this here before though) but i live in Kansas. and my license was just revoked very suddenly and immediately because i'm trans and had changed my gender marker.
so now i cannot legally drive or vote until/unless i let them force me to carry around a card that misgenders me and outs me as trans, because i certainly don't look female anymore.
so hey if you have the means and want to help with any of this, please consider donating to the ACLU of Kansas because they are at least going to try to do something to push back against this, and i'm such a panicky wreck that the only thing i can do to get through my immediate gut reaction to having my license revoked tonight (i cannot stress enough that i received the letter today saying that my license is no longer valid tomorrow) is focus on the fact that there's at least one entity trying to protect me and my fellow trans kansans.
More info on what's been happening in Kansas:
"The legislature did not include a grace period."
once again VERY quickly glancing at the flood of notes as they rush by me, and this set of tags from @the-cassquatch caught my eye:
it was basically rushed through. there's a vague timeline on this that starts in 2023, when a law (i don't remember which one at this point) was passed trying to define gender as being only male or female in kansas and restricting what bathrooms we're allowed to use in government facilities and shit like that, and Kris Kobach tried to take that law and say "THIS MEANS YOU CAN'T CHANGE YOUR SEX/GENDER ON YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE OR DRIVER'S LICENSE" and in June of 2023 all such actions across the state were frozen by a county judge.
it was initially expected that this freeze would end in a matter of weeks because you can only put a hold on these things via judicial action for so long. they managed to keep this tied up in legal limbo for almost 2 and a half years, though. in October of 2025, that ruling was finally and decisively overturned, and we were able to start changing our gender markers again.
that's when i finally changed mine. (i had received my updated birth certificate on a saturday in june of 2023, and the judge put a hold on gender marker changes the following monday, bright and early. i woke up early all excited to go update my driver's license only to find out i couldn't.)
anyway, we knew in October of 2025 that Kansas Republicans (who hold a supermajority in our legislature, if that wasn't clear) were going to do something to fuck with all of that again. we've known this was coming. it just got pushed through way faster than expected, and in the most cruel and inhumane way possible. the lack of grace period on updating our IDs is likely due to manifold influence, but more on that in a moment.
SB 244, the bill that resulted in the ID of every kansan who has legally transitioned being revoked LITERALLY OVERNIGHT, was introduced in its current form on January 27th, 2026. It passed the house 87 to 36 on January 28th, and passed the senate 30 to 9 on the same day. Our governor, gods help her, was presented the bill on February 3rd, 2026. She vetoed it on February 16th, 2026.
On February 17th, the senate voted to override that veto, 31 to 9; and on February 18th, the house voted to override the veto, 87 to 37.
we knew this was coming, and we knew it was coming fast, but it has been less than a month since the bill was introduced, and the kansas legislature website is an archaic piece of shit. the news in kansas mostly leans pro-republican, so there's little reason for them to cover this in a way that's actually helpful and informative, and that's assuming you even trust mainstream news enough to watch it at all.
tl;dr: we have known about this bill in its current form for less than a month. we received no information about its implementation or when, exactly, it would go into effect until, as far as i can tell, very literally yesterday. and it is in effect today.
tags from @nik0ftime, it is extremely important to note that Laura Kelly did not send these letters herself. she vetoed the bill, and the republican supermajority in the state legislature overrode her veto. the letters came from the department of revenue. Laura Kelly is likely not a perfect governor (literally we have had so little experience with her not being more or less shackled by a republican supermajority legislature it's not even funny), but she has, at every turn, pushed back against anti-trans bills in every way she can within her power as the governor of Kansas.

i forgot i was going to discuss the manifold influence on why they've done this! thank you for the reminder.
the reason they didn't give us a grace period on this is manifold.
they want as few of us to understand the specifics of what's happening to us, legally, as possible so that
we will drive without a valid license
we will use the "wrong" bathroom in public
we will try to vote without a valid ID (and, yes, presenting a valid ID to vote is required in Kansas, which is fucked up for many reasons)
and all of that is so that they can fine and/or jail us. the fines are prohibitive for many trans people (including myself) and jail time is already traumatic enough, but we would be jailed according to our assigned sex at birth, making it extra traumatic
and the added layer, the cherry on top, is that these are all attempts to force us to either leave the state and go be disgusting faggots somewhere else or, even better, just detransition and stop being disgusting faggots.
do i sound angry? it's probably because i'm angry.
watch this post slowly get longer and longer. tags from @literary-potato
100%. i live one of the most urban areas of kansas, and public transit will still only get me so far. on top of that, i'm physically disabled, so while for an able-bodied person the, for example, branch of the public library nearest to my home is in cycling or walking distance, for me it is not. i have to drive there- or, now, get someone to drive me. it's too close for me to be able to utilize public transit and too far for me to be able to convey myself there as a pedestrian.
worse still, my therapist, who i now desperately need to see, as you might imagine, is in a different city an hour's drive away. i cannot take public transit to see her. i now need someone to drive me.
gods forbid you live outside of city limits. then you have no option but to drive.
As we are unable to access our bank accounts without my beloved husband, we have connected a trusted professional and legal counsel for the family as a beneficiary. Our current struggle is additionally complicated because due to the current occupation of agents in our city, we are not able to safely leave home and use the bank to set up any new accounts. Our beneficiary, Anders Berglund, is well trusted by our family and has demonstrated to us that he will be able to safely deliver all funds to us directly.â
The children of this family were going door to door to ask for helpâ itâs crazy to imagine being put in that position as a kid. If you can spare the money, consider donating to help out some neighbors in need.
a restaurant in minneapolis has become free for all with the exception of ICE occupiers. theyâre only accepting donations to keep from giving money to a government which funds foreign and domestic terrorists. everyone who works there is now there as volunteers. everyone is smiling and laughing over good food and drinks.
a person arrived with roses and silently handed bouquets to every patron there. there were boxes of flowers left by the doors for whoever wanted them.
another stranger, watching as i received a bouquet said, âi love seeing your face when itâs joyful.â and i was at a loss for words.
there is a lot to fight for, i am seeing it every day i walk out my door. remember how much you love your neighbors, and how much you love the joy on their face, and remember that they love to see it on yours.
by the way, <3
hi. you made a post a few days ago about calling your senators to vote against increasing ICE funding. do you know if you have to be registered to vote to call or have your call count? i want to do my part, but im a minor and canât register to vote, so i want to confirm if this is something i can or cannot help with
(someone in the reblogs said it helps that the person knows youâre registered to vote in their district, presumably so they know the people they serve actually want this, but again, iâm not registered to vote.)
iâm by no means an expert on reaching out to and communicating with people, but i feel like thereâs no harm in at least letting your voice be heard. you are a person who lives somewhere that is represented by elected officials, itâs literally their job to listen to you, even if you canât vote yet. it may not hold the same political sway, but iâd like to believe you can still appeal to their humanity and morality.
call your representatives to urge them to vote against further funding for ice. this is a very easy process through 5calls and it takes 2-3 minutes. you are almost guaranteed to leave a voicemail so please donât feel nervous or stressed about it, this is something that could make a difference. all you need to do is put in your zip code and the site will provide a script and the numbers for your representatives.
the deadline is january 30th and itâs good to call frequently if you can
If you're socially anxious etc about calling, here's a thing you can realistically say, unlike those long speeches people sometimes impractically provide as a "guide" on posts like this:
"Hi, I wanted to give some feedback to my rep?" [the person will acknowledge this] " my name is [first last], I live in [zipcode], and I want my rep to vote against any funding of ICE or law enforcement."
That is both all that's required for your comment to be logged by the representative's office. It will likely be more impactful than reading a long statement, not less; the function of these calls is so that there is a record of what issues their constituents' are emotionally invested in, not persuading the person on the phone. A bunch of people repeating the same speech only tells the office a bunch of people agree with what a single org provided them; short, direct calls that are paraphrased and have "ums" and stuff in them tell the office that multiple, real people care about this enough to cause themselves discomfort to let you know-- and your name & zipcode tell them you're registered to vote. If you want to say more, add that you won't vote for [representative's name] if they vote for any additional funding. You don't even have to mean it for that to be effective (although I wish you would mean it. They're counting on you not to mean it, to keep getting away with this).
EDIT: I'm pleased to see that 5 calls has stopped giving page-long scripts like they did back in like 2017, and that they cited one specific up coming voteHere's a more concise version of their script that includes that specific upcoming votes:
[When CALLING HOUSE]:Â My name is [first last}, I'm registered to vote in [zip] I demand that my representative vote against H.R. 7147, and oppose any future funding towards ICE.

hey i deleted it but also just wanted to say the nerve gas thing i posted was unconfirmed; i was seeing a bunch of horrible shit every day outside and on my phone and believing/expecting the absolute worst and not taking the extra time to check like a dummy. did not mean to scare a bunch of people and make things harder
sorry for the panic posting. i hope people are staying safe and also showing up for one another where you can
