To Play Devilโs Advocate
โ โ; The plan was to infiltrate the Niflheim army and become one of them in order to safeguard the princessโ safety from a distance. Deceiving the enemy was easy but the discipline he needed to learn, the pain and anger he had to swallow in order to play the part was the hardest part. To act as if he hated the very King he loved, to spit words that condemned his comrades and their plight โit hurt him but he disregarded his feelings entirely for the mission at hand. It had been a couple of years and he quickly climbed up the ranks to find a place within the castle in Tenebrae. It was a stunning place where nature lived as one with the people.ย
Concealing his abilities as a glaive, Nyx did not introduce himself as the skillful soldier he was for the glaives. ย But he made damn sure he displayed enough to get him here within the castle and acting as the princessโ personal guard. ย Finally, he thought as he stood in front of the doors to the acropolis. He was going to come face to face with the target and secure her well-being. ย As he entered, he noticed how heavy the air was. Despite this, there were no guards only handmaidens. ย
One greeted him with a fake smile and a nasty glare within her eyes โ he couldnโt blame her for the look. After all, he was supposedly just another filthy Nif. Escorted to the garden where her highness resided, Nyx was in awe at the beauty of the place. It was unlike anything back on Niflheim grounds โ it was clean, pure, full of light and color. It was as if the gods blessed this place with its love. If he hadnโt known better, he wouldnโt think a war had conquered these lands. As the maid left him alone, he entered, hearing nothing but the echoes of the tapping of his shoes.ย
Azure irses surveyed the area, looking for her and finally, he caught her sun kissed hair. She was sitting beside a table, her back to him and he took a deep breath in order to prepare himself mentally and physically for the greatest act. As he approached, he wrestled with the anxiety that began to fester. He couldnโt let her know who he was otherwise it would bring a great danger to him but most importantly, her. Afraid of failure, he dug his fingers into his fist. ย Standing beside the table, he stiffened and said solemnly. โLady Lunafreyaโ He refused to refer to her as your highness, as many of the soldiers he trained with here did not acknowledge her as the heir to Tenebrae but instead a prisoner and an Oracle.
ย He looked down at her with a cold expression, making sure he doesnโt bow before her in order to ensure that he actually did not respect her as anything more than the prisoner she was meant to be in his eyes. But once she glanced in his direction, and he was able to put a face to his purpose he held his breath. Her eyes were like the sky, lonely and mesmerizing. For a moment his features would soften as he remembered hearing awful things about how she was treated throughout the dozen years she was captured. Instead of frowning he fought to grimace instead while he said,
ย โI am your newly appointed guard. Donโt cause me any trouble and we wonโt have any problems.โ He spat sternly, knowing full well why she kept needing new guards โ she often would invade them in order to find solitude. ย
