The faint sounds of a pop ballad trickled out from the bar behind you as you stumbled into the alley. The cold night air steadied you, but the stars wobbled tipsily when you looked up. Someone cleared their throat and you spun toward the sound. A man was leaning against the brick wall, waving enthusiastically when he caught your eye.
"Hey there, I didn't want to scare you!" Squinting, you could make out spiky blonde hair and a long red coat. He would've looked intimidating, if not for the guileless grin. You waved back and couldn't help matching his smile.

The moons cast a dim light in the quiet room. Wolfwood was perched on the bed he shared with Vash, a cigarette between his lips while he wrote in his little black book.
The night was peaceful, the wind blowing between the cream curtains that hung atop the open window, and the only sound he could hear was coming from his pen as he scribbled on the pages and Vash’s soft breathing as he slept next to him.
Wolfwood placed the pen between the crease of his journal, using it as a bookmark before he closed it, taking his cigarette from his lips and flicking the ashes into the glass bowl on the nightstand beside the bed.
Every night, or when he finds some sense of peace in his chaotic day, Wolfwood would attempt to write letters for the kids back home. From things he’s witnessed throughout the day or the adventures he was currently on. He had to admit since he began traveling with Vash, there was always something to write about.
“How long have you been awake?” Wolfwood turned his head, observing Vash rubbing the corner of his eyes, and letting out a soft yawn.
“Haven’t slept yet.” his voice was gentle, trying his best not to make Vash worry about him. Wolfwood picked up his journal again, opening it to where he left his pen and continued to write. “Didn’t want to wake ya, so I thought I’d do a little bit of writing instead.”
Vash always knew Wolfwood had trouble sleeping, even if the man assured him that it had gotten much better since they’d started sharing a bed. He’d be lying to himself if he didn’t feel the same way, having Wolfwood’s arms around his body always seemed to bring him some kind of peace while they slept. Turning around to lie on his stomach, Vash hugged his pillow closer to him and chose to stare at Wolfwood instead of scolding him for not sleeping.
The beautiful glow from the lighting of the moons cast an ethereal aura around Wolfwood's dark form, Vash was enchanted by his beauty. He traced over every detail he was able to make out, from the slight twitch from his brow as Wolfwood concentrated on his thoughts or how his lips curled into a small smile.
“Take a picture Blondie,” he grinned, now watching Vash from the corner of his eyes.
“If only I had a camera, I might take you up on that offer.” he retorted, giving his partner a cheshire grin.
They both let out a soft chuckle, enjoying the tender and peaceful moments they could share. Once Wolfwood’s gaze settled once again on his journal, Vash finally sat up and leaned into his partner. He rested his chin on Wolfwood’s shoulder and read over what the other was writing down.
He couldn’t help the smile that appeared on his face, reading through the notes and reminiscing about the previous day. “Are you going to send this one?” he spoke softly, resting his cheek on the other man’s broad shoulder. Vash noticed how Wolfwood’s motion stopped, the pen dropping slightly before his grip tightened and resumed his writing.
“I’m sure the kids would love to read what happened today.”
It wasn’t the first time Vash brought up the subject of Wolfwood mailing out his letters. Waking up in the middle of the night, to find Wolfwood writing, sometimes he would join him and brainstorm on what Wolfwood should include and talk for hours about how the kids would be in awe reading each letter. But to this day, Wolfwood has yet to send even one.
Wolfwood let out a soft sigh, taking what was left of the cigarette and snuffing it into the glass bowl. It had been years since he last saw the kids, some of them were so young that he doubted they would even remember him. “It’s been so long Vash, what if they–”
He couldn’t finish his sentence, as Vash cut him off immediately with a finger against his lips. Wolfwood stared at him, watching as Vash reached over to take the journal from his lap, and placed it on the nightstand next to the ashtray.
“Nicholas, you know the kids would be ecstatic to receive anything from you,” Vash held Wolfwood’s chin between his fingers and placed a gentle kiss on the other’s lips. “I’m sure they haven’t forgotten about you, who could?” he smiled against his lips.
“Besides, they love you so much Wolfwood…” his lips brushed against Wolfwood’s, warm breath ghosting over them. “Maybe more than my love for you?”
“You always know what to say,” Wolfwood whispered, allowing himself to smile and appreciate how Vash was trying to comfort him.
It wasn’t long before both men laid back down and held each other. Vash continued to soothe the other, with soft and gentle words while Wolfwood closed his eyes. “Sweet dreams, my love.” was the last thing he heard before Wolfwood finally allowed himself to sleep.

“Wolfwood.”
Hands ran down his back, stopping to grip his ass. Thumbs soothe in small circles. Lips chase his exposed skin. He sighs, eyes heavy and losing to gravity. The pair sat on the couch, Wolfwood’s knees firm against Vash’s hips. He sat facing backwards in his boyfriend’s lap, arms encircling his shoulders.
This was one of those nights Wolfwood’s lover demanded that he took a moment to relax. This often ended with him snuggled up to him and passed out. Vash would stare at him a bit too long then corner him later that day, demanding Wolfwood to take a break for their sessions.
Despite the implications, this does not include sex. Rather it was a session of body contact, breathing and letting go for a bit. Wolfwood used to help him through it until one day Vash asked him to join in. Thus, it became a ritual when one of them became too stressed. This included changing into lightweight pajamas on particularly bad days.
Today Wolfwood had stomped in the front door from work, with a particularly nasty hypothetical plan in his head. Vash took one look and demanded he sat on the couch. Ever the feisty dog, Wolfwood snipped at him. Vash used that tone on him and suddenly he was climbing onto the couch into his boyfriend’s lap. Today Vash hummed soothing comforts that always managed to turn Wolfwood’s bones into slush. He only managed to take off his shoes before being summoned. Only now his work jacket was shed from his shoulders. Wolfwood lifting his heavy eyes to watch his prosthetic hand tug it off.
Thank you to @thedrabblecollective for creating this fun challenge! I've loved being part of it so far and am excited for the rest of the month<3 Highly encourage anyone who hasn't yet to join in!
