“Getting shot’s never fun,” she agreed, trying her best not to cause more harm than good as she pulled out the fragments. “At least your skin will be nice and smooth afterwards. I still wear mine.” It was a key difference between the T-virus bonding and the G-virus. 

The G-virus was stronger as a healing agent, so while Sherry would look flawless, Alice would be littered with scars. Not that she really cared all that much. 

“Well, at least it’s easy enough to...deal with...” she said, pulling out the last fragment she could find, tossing it on the ground with a huff. “Personally? I’d rather get stabbed.”

Jake paused to peer over his shoulder at Sherry with a scoff. This was just ridiculous...but. Well. If she wanted to sit there, might as well make the most of it. “How many do you think I can do like this? Probably 15 I think. Wanna find out?”

    Jill had been sitting there, watching over this younger looking girl for at least an hour. She dragged her body to safety, away from the dangers those monsters brought. Although she was unsure of whether or not this girl was friend or foe, she was seemingly still weak--besides, she considered this as part of she debt she needed to pay. Those frightened eyes, they watch her at night. 

    “Yes, I was,” she says, her voice as light and soft as always. “I saw you laying face down on the ground.”Whatever got you--sure did a number on you. I’m surprised you even opened your eyes.”

“ Miss, I’d really suggest putting the gun down. ”

“Ah! …uh. Sorry,” she said, lowering the rifle in her hands and offering the other woman a slight, somewhat guilty smile. Talk about busted. She hadn’t expected anyone else to be up here. No one except the one person she was here to get. “Thought you were, ah….. someone else.”

“Who’s up there?!” the agent shouts into the dark, both hands gripping her handgun. Her stance is alert and wary, blue eyes searching around for any sign of a saboteur.

“A big, bad monster.”

The only noise that comes after is the sound of heels, striding along concrete from a floor above. It echoes across the warehouse like flashes of thunder, moving closer, and closer to Sherry. A trigger is pulled. Metal hits metal, and there’s a sharp sound of a rope shooting forward.

The lights turn on.

“Just kidding,” Ada says, slamming the generator’s lid shut. “They turned the power off, so I figured I should fix it.”

She smiles, leaning against the railing as she watches Sherry standing among the cargoes, a small creature in this vast forest of secrets.

“Need some help, or would you prefer running into trouble by yourself?”
