Just found these gems on Amazon Prime. I guess I know what I’m doing today!!
Trilogy Time
Whenever life gets this difficult and my early twenties are incredibly unbearable I know it’s Trilogy Time. Okay, so I’m definitely NOT watching the Star Wars Trilogy. I am, however, watching Ted, Marshall, and Barney “tril it up.” I watch the evolution of their lives. I watch them worry. I watch Ted stay hopeful until it finally hits him that if these 3 year intervals are taking him only in circles then perhaps no matter how many three year increments he lives through, his life will be exactly what it has always been. I watch him worry. I watch him picture his sad empty life with newspapers and TV dinners and a love for cinnamon. And I worry like he does. I watch the lives of my loved ones become something more, something beautiful, as he does with Lily, Marshall, Robin, and Barney. I imagine myself stuck in my terrible underpaying jobs, my college degree laughing at me from underneath the pile of winter blankets I’ve buried it under. I imagine that I’ll only ever just be this, The thing I’ve always been. Just like Ted.
And then. Penny happens. Just as he’s given up. And he has all the things he feared he’d never get. He didn’t give up, even though he could not have known it would finally work out. Maybe if I can make it through these small three year intervals, even if I’m scared, even when I can’t see it. If I can just keep moving forward, there will be a “Penny” in it for me too.
Trilogy Time, people.
It’s cheaper than therapy and a hell of a lot funnier.
Day 14: favorite HIMYM tradition:
Star Wars Trilogy
"Dude, you can't let that happen. If you're not trilling it at least once every three years, the Dark Side wins." - Marshall
Trilogy Time is one of my favorite episodes! Watching the Star Wars trilogy is one of the best things EVER and like on the show, it must be way better to gather with your closests friends. It was not only for the company, but Marshall, Ted and Barney shared and dream together about their hopes for their life. It wasn't just that but also the fact that they shared and tried to help each other overcome their hardships and disappointments, I think it was a beautiful tradition.
Ted's future as a bald and lonely man was so hilarious!
If you're not Trillin' it every 3 years, the Dark Side wins!
Marshall Eriksen
Seriously though, why would they hide Barney’s left hand in Trilogy time? We knew he was going to get married in season 6, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see a ring on his finger in season 7. Unless he doesn’t have a ring on his finger, insinuating he didn’t get married, but it has been confirmed that Barney does marry Robin! So….. WHAT.
This is probably just the writers messing with us and trying to drive us crazy.
Hahaha
Watching the 'Return of the king'. Only one of us hasn't seen it before. Obviously. It's weird when I get hushed because "spoilers".
The writers know about the timeline...
https://twitter.com/HIMYM_Writers
Go to their twitter feed. One of the tweets talks about Rachel Axler (writer of this episode). In the comments a reader asks about the timeline with Trilogy time. The reader is concerned they do not sync up. Rachel Axler responded with, “They’ve thought of everything, dont worry!” So the writers know about that episode and they didn’t just forget. I don’t think they messed up. There is just some info that we do not know yet.
--- I HOPE THEY *REALLY* THOUGHT IT ALL OUT. But thank you so much! You are seriously a life saver!
