My Place
The valley is peaceful
tucked behind a tunnel at the edge of a cliff
Its sheltered from weather,
with trees creating a fence around the sunlit valley
The flowers smell like vanilla and honey
The grass a shiny sea of dew
Rabbits chew lazily on the grass,
Giving me no more than a glance
There is a small pond tucked in a corner
Hidden under the protection of weeping Willows
The water is still and clear
Spotted with leaves and flower petals
A slight breeze sings as it shakes the trees gently
Causing a soft swoosh
The peacefulness of the valley urges me to lie down
And the soft grass is like a cloud on my aching muscles
The sky is a clear blue
With butterflies that are big as birds
The quiet allows me to think
And to relax
Forgetting all the troubles of life
For once, I am relaxed
And I watch as the last of the day
leaves a sky of livid lavender
