Triopha catalinae, commonly known as the sea clown, is found both in Japan as well as the west coast of the U.S. This beautiful nudibranch has it’s gills on the sides of its body which aren’t retractable unlike other dorids. The clown nudi has the ability to crawl along the underside of the surface of water in tide pools- usually only smaller sea slugs can do that!
