piece titled: mind swarms. a lot has happened since May 31st, 2015. For the majority of my life I haven't liked taking photos or those people that like taking photos. This series of photos was a somewhat defining moment for me. I was in the middle of a conversation with someone and it just wasn't socially appropriate to stop everything and take these pictures. I saw this man grooming himself across the street. The background and sun were perfect to "paint with the camera" I was fairly sure i'd be able to knock out the background and have him look more painting/sketchy/film like. so I did it. I stopped the conversation at an odd place and said something like "sorry but I take photos and really don't want to miss that shot, brb" I remember being so embarrassed. being an artist can at times be like having Tourette's. all that most people hear is "fuck, fuck, fuck" while you're trying to say something beautiful. I once thought it to be the most romantic and beautiful thing ever to write the brides and grooms name in some wet concrete in front of the place they were getting married, the construction crew did not. This was the first in the "fortress of solitude" series in which intimate moments in the streets are isolated from their environment. It is also a response to seeing a Banksy put behind plastic in San Francisco's Chinatown and the realization that we often seek to preserve things more than life. Photo print on metal with hand cut acrylic plastic overlay. Acrylic has etched in writings. First panel is a series of thoughts about time : the now is only now later. a backwards clock is still correct. Sometimes only sum times will give you the time. faint and faded is the light of all stars at some point in time. etc. Second panel has less writing: there was a day not 2day but one day is too day? say do you know the day not the day tooday say day today. etc. Third panel has date and location of where series of photos were taken. Sawtooth mount, floats one inch off wall. piece is approximately 10 inches wide, 13 inches tall. to see original photos/post click #triskaphobia contact if interested ... #piecesofswenyando #swenyandomemes (at mindswarms)
