It was one of the famous pizza nights at Sam’s apartment and Colby could not take his eyes off of you. He loved to watch you interact with all of his friends. The way you and Jake both never knew what’s going on. How you and Kat were so bubbly and how you and Tara have the same giggle. How you and Kevin were the parents of the friend group and the way you and Sam loved to play games as a group. You fit in so well with them all and he loved that.

You sat next to him, pizza in hand, and had a bit of sauce on your face. He couldn’t help but wipe it off with his napkin and the smile left on your face warmed his heart.

Later on, y’all were playing blind hide and seek and y’all decided to squish into Sam’s closet. You two were chest to chest, very much in each other’s personal space.

“Shh,” he whispered, placing his finger over his lips to signal you to quiet down but you couldn’t keep your giggles at bay. The sound of it was music to his ears but he didn’t want to be caught though it was too late.

“Gotcha!” Sam shouted as he pointed the nerf gun at you guys and began shooting. You and Colby left to sit at the loser couch and you leaned into him, scrolling through your phone when you get a text.

Colbs: you have no idea how much I want you right now

You looked up at him and he smirked at you. You giggled before turning back to your phone to send him a reply.

“What’s wrong, baby?” Colby asked you as he noticed you staring off into the distance, your expression unreadable which worried him. You glanced his way before fixating your gaze back on the tree it was on previously. He let out a sigh before taking a seat on the balcony next to you. He knew you didn’t want to talk right now so he wasn’t going to push.

“Why haven’t you left yet?” you mumbled quietly after a long but comfortable silence shared between you two.

“What?” Colby questioned, not sure he heard you correctly because why would you ask him such a thing?

“Why are you still here? With me?” you repeated yourself as you nervously bit at your nail.

“What do you mean, y/n? I love you. I’m not going anywhere.” You could feel his stare burning a hole through your skull but you refused to look at him.

“No, you don’t. No one does.”

“Y/n, after everything we’ve been through, you still don’t think that I love you?”

“I know we’ve been through a lot together, Colby. We’ve been together for over three years, but I still don’t get why you stay or why you love me. There are so many better options around here for you. People who your friends and fans would like to see you with more than me. Don’t you understand that everyone in my life has left me and I’m just waiting for the day you decide to do the same? The longer we stay together, the more it’s gonna hurt when you do decide to leave.”

After those words, you broke your gaze from the tree and finally looked at him with tears brimming your eyes, slightly blurring your vision. Colby’s face softened at your expression and he stood to walk over to you. Your eyes followed him until he was in front of you and he pulled you up from the chair, only to sit down in it and pull you into his lap.

“I know your life hasn’t been the best, but I’m not going anywhere. You are the only person I want to have in my life. I love you, okay?” You nodded your head in the crook of his neck, but he pulled you away to look into your eyes.

“Say it back so I know you heard me.”

“You’re not going to leave me. You want me around and you love me.”

“And?” he asked with a little grin on his face.

“And I love you too.”

“Quarantine sucks!” you shouted with distinct aggravation in your voice. The chuckle that came from your phone brought a smile to your face. You looked down to see his also smiling face on your phone as he sat down on the couch in his room.

“I know it does but soon enough, we will all be hanging out and having fun again,” he reassured you and you nodded in response.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. I just wish Miss Rona would leave so I can hang out with my best friends again,” you pouted, poking your bottom lip out.

Colby found that so adorable and it brought back all the feelings he has been dealing with lately. He felt kind of weird about feeling this way about one of his best friends but he couldn’t help it. He was absolutely in love with you.

“I can’t stop thinking about you,” he blurted out. His eyes widened at the unexpected confession as did yours. An awkward chuckle left your mouth. You didn’t know what to say.

“I think about you a lot too, bubs.” You looked down at your lap before Colby spoke again.

“No, I mean, I um... I like you, y/n.” Colby waited for a minute before speaking again. “It’s okay if you don’t like me back. I don’t expect you to. I’ll get over it eventually.”

“No Colby, I like you too.” The two of you shared small smiles and longing looks before talking about other subjects. Quarantine was going to suck even more now because you couldn’t spend time with your new boyfriend.
