Its kind of funny to think that 7 Gram Dab was one of the first EVER albums on SiIva, isn't it? Well, back in 2016, just four months into the channel's life on the fated day of 4/20, the obvious joke was played into full swing. Just about all rips uploaded put a notable emphasis on the exact sources you'd expect - Snoop Dogg, Because I Got High, and all other kinds of weed-smoking jokes. Honestly, despite their age a lot of the rips from this event do honestly still hold up as being really funny, such as Weed of an Absolution (which has one of my all-time oldest YouTube comments on SiIva!). It was hard to pick just one, but I'm on a bit of a YTPMV kick right now, and Ganja Man 9: Hash Blunt Hash (Shorty's Stage) ticks all the right boxes.
And like, I think that's mainly just because the source its using is pretty timeless? The Snoop Dogg vocal sample of "Smoke Weed Everyday" from the titular song feels like its one of the longest enduring online memes these days - It was big back before even right as early creators like Smosh were spoofing it in their videos, and has stayed relevant primarily through music edits like those of Mowtendoo (Blend W, anyone?). Snoop is, simply put, just a very fun personality to spoof and make fun of, and the actually good flow to his music certainly does help things along. After the rip's opening, it goes from just playing samples to being a full-on mashup of Splash Blue and another Snoop Dogg song, Drop It Like It's Hot - then after the loop, it does both at the same time!
Alright, so, it is still dreadfully simple, but its a simple joke that's done pretty well, part of an equally simple event filled with other gems just like it. 4/20 of 2016 was one of the first SiIvaGunner events I remember being part of, and its fun to look back on just how much the channel has grown since those early days - though the jokes used feel timeless, its creators have grown so much since.
