Trojan Original
Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines" Sexy Boys Parody by Mod Carousel (by Mod Carousel)
BRILLIANCE FROM SEATTLE ALERT. I had to look up Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video to understand what this was all about but I am fucking IMPRESSED with what these folks did.
So this is Mod Carousel (a Seattle boylesque group consisting of Paris Original, Trojan Original and The Luminous Pariah) along with Sydni Deveraux, Caela Bailey, and Dalisha Phillips on vocals and suits.
All I have to say is YES. WELL FUCKING DONE. Professional, political, sexual, brilliant parody. I think it's extra interesting to see the boys playing not just naked men parts but naked feminine men. Most parodies would probably not go for this, but it's in their style already so it really hits the point home in some ways.
But it's also what they all do. So although I know that this is in part a comment on how ridiculous and demeaning it is to objectify and sexualize women so much (a revelation which comes about as a result of us seeing reversed gender roles we're not used to and thinking how ridiculous it seems now), it also seems like a totally normal situation for them. So there's either a missed message there or a really interesting double meaning - because I believe these people are all sexually healthy when they put themselves in front of people and perform with one another.
Anyway. Sydni! Good fucking job girl! Paris you are amazing. Trojan I still have a crush on you. Love it.
