@trollamulet is stuck between a rock, and a hard place;

however, the fact that the rock happens to be a feared assassin and the hard place a few stray gumm-gumms that had escaped their demise when Gunmar perished, it means he is likely going to survive. He had managed to go this long already, after all, which spoke a great deal about his battle prowess and ingenuity than it did for a lot of other trolls out there.

Angor Rot would not have been caught dead ever once praising a Trollhunter much less a human one, not so long ago, but he has much to thank the young hunter for. His freedom, for starters. Turning over and sticking his dagger into the exposed hide of a lunging zombie as it tries to tackle him, his glowing gaze falls upon Jim for a moment, watching with a quiet sense of respect as the trollish figure stands his ground against a much larger opponent.

There's a confused snort and a quirked brow from the creature, ears twitching as if questioning the words they'd just heard; green-eyed gaze falls downward to the source of the confounding comment, the seeming-human the creature had jumped to the defense of.

Canine head tilting before it started speaking back.

"Troll?" A growly, but distinctly casual voice rumbles out in question. "I've heard Werewolf, Yenaldooshi, Dogman, and even been called the Beast of Gévaudan once... but a troll? That's a first."

He was certainly too well-spoken to be any of those things. (Short of a troll, but the reaction didn't make that sound likely.)

jim  watches  with  bated  breath,  holding  it.  it's  odd  to  see  how  he  moved,  blinked.  staring  from  the  outside  in,  seeing  someone  else  share  the  face  you've  only  seen  reversed  in  distorted  reflections  for  too  long  -  avoiding  the  way  you  looked  because  you  were  afraid  of  what  monster  you'd  become  -  and  he  knows  that  this  isn't  a  changeling,  this  isn't  someone  copying  his  appearance.

  it's  not  exactly  the  outcome  he  wanted,  the  outcome  in  mind.  yes,  he  wanted  toby  alive,  but  at  the  same  time  -  staring  at  himself  days  before  making  the  biggest  mistake  of  patrolling  alone,  fleeing  from  the  green  knight...  before  the  shard  in  his  chest  takes  his  life.

  jim  has  seen  what  two  of  merlin's  amulets  do  when  they're  in  the  same  space,  but  the  difference  between  the  trollhunters  is  that  the  one  in  front  of  him  is  still  half-troll,  and  he  feels  sick.  he  knows  the  fate  that  becomes  of  himself.  that,  and  the  akaridion  amulet  in  his  pocket  -  burning  and  burning.

  "hey,  are  you  happy?"  he  quietly  asks.  he  doesn't  know  if  he's  double-backed  on  his  own  timeline,  where  he  wasn't,  or  if  this  is  a  different  timeline  where  he  doesn't  remember,  that  he's  reset  things  before  and  he  is  happy  with  his  situation.
