Bad Blood
‘Furious’ didn’t even begin to describe what Ken was when he came home one day to find his computer no longer in his bedroom. He was standing in the doorway, looking at the now bare desk beside his bed.
Deep breath. “Mom!”
“What is it, dear?”
“Where. Is my. Computer.”
“Your father and I agreed that it’s not healthy to let you have it in there anymore. You’re starting to behave like you did that awful year you disappeared. Osamu said--”
“Osamu said what.”
“--that he thought you’re too fixated on your technology. You need to take a break every once and awhile.”
“I don’t need any breaks! I’m busy, can’t you see that!?”
“Then you can be busy in the living room.”
The living room. His life’s work was sitting in the living room for anyone in his family to touch.
Osamu was going to pay for this.
