Not really sure about that, either! Socialization ain’t my strong point, a lot of that stuff is still new to me, and I haven’t been able to really clearly identify my own boundaries. I think as long as I have another place to go to get away from everything every now and then I’ll be fine.

oolong: where do you see yourself in five years?

I honestly don’t know. I would like to see myself having a stable job, a driver’s license and some sort of personal transportation, with my interest in programming being explored on the side.

But I just don’t know. My life is in a real weird state right now. Well. It has been for, like, eight years actually. Nothing is real certain, I don’t have any clear direction to go in and no momentum to take me there yet, but I won’t stop trying my best to get moving somewhere.

For the most part, yea. I love the way snow looks, and I like playing in it every now and then. I’m just not a fan of the ice it brings to the road, since Texas doesn’t ever seem to know how to deal with it.

Let me also ask your good question: what got you into Tron?

When I was a kid, I went to this shitty daycare center. It had a few arcade games; R-Type, Ms PacMan, Galaga, some vertical scrolling WWII airplane shoot-em-up, a vertical scrolling tank shooter, and Tron. All were set to free play. R-Type and Tron were my favorites. I used to spend a lot of time sitting next to the Tron machine, staring at that art and trying to figure out what the things were and what they meant.

A few years later, I was with my mother at Half-Price Books, looking at their DVD section. I saw a strangely thicker DVD case that said “Tron” on it. I didn’t really bother reading much of what was on the back. I saw “A masterpiece of breakthrough CGI ingenuity,” and thought “Wow, that game must be a lot older than I thought,” and just assumed that it was a documentary about the game and its history.

Boy howdy was 13 year-old me wrong

Five minutes into the movie and it was really clear that I was way off on what I thought this was going to be, and I had no idea what to expect.

I watched it, I loved it. I watched all the supplemental material, listened to the commentary, and I’ve been hooked on all things Tron since then.

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)? 

For as much as I like writing The Angst™, I’m always a sucker for Fluff Without Plot™ and slice-of-life/domestic stuff. I’m also horribly horribly guilty of hate-reading fics (specifically ship fics) that I know I’m not gonna like. I promise that I never leave hate comments or anything, but for some reason I can’t help myself and end up reading fics that are not at all to my tastes just out of… morbid curiosity. 

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence? 

I need to take a minute to give a shoutout to a bunch of people: @bruceboxleitner, who has inspired me to write more ot3 shenanigans and whose characterization of Alan and Kevin is so on-point it’s ridiculous. And @thejabberwocki who can write angsty shit like nobody’s business and is so good at it it h u r t s. And @spazzbot who writes lovely domestic and ship fic that fuels me. And @sarellathesphinx with her amazing vivid descriptions, and @askbeckandpaige with incredible Uprising fics that have prompted me to think about characters that I really hadn’t before, and @infiniteviking with all that Ram and Roy inspiration. 

And also literally every person I’ve rp’d with over the years has been a huge influence on my writing.

W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones?

It might be weird, but I tend to prefer the general prompts to the super specific ones? Not that I don’t like detailed prompts, but I usually find that it’s easier for me to get in the writing groove if I’ve got a bit of wiggle room. Plus I tend to worry more with the specific ones that what I’ve written doesn’t match up to what the prompter was looking for.

Well, I wouldn’t say “in love with,” just a minor crush (that I’m trying to get over), but she most certainly does not.

I’m assuming this means sexual, but I’m gonna answer it as though its asking more broadly. So my favorite position is sitting in my chair at my laptop.

22. What’s your horoscope sign?

Leo.

23. Your fears?

Well for one, spiders. Falling (from a significant height). Being alone (and not in a literal, no one else is home, way)

None.

25. What never fails to turn you on?

One that ends with agreeing to a second date.
