So some jerk just called me a ‘greedy pig’ after I said that if I catch a big fish that I would keep it. Let me make a few points here, yes it is a nice idea to let them go for future generations, BUT consider the fact that it was previous generations that were the ‘greedy’ ones. Maybe during their era they actually needed all the fish they could get, BUT they also didn’t really have any rules in place for what they’re allowed to take and how many, they just took all they could get. Like with trapping beaver, consider that they were once endangered because trappers were taking them year round, not seasonally like they are now. So if you were to tell someone to not be a greedy pig, maybe go tell the past generations that. Ok, yes, bigger fish would have more pollutants, and would lay more eggs etc etc. BUT, by taking the small ones you’re also eliminating whatever potential they might have had in the future. I honestly see no point in catching fish if you’re only going to let them go. So sorry but not sorry, I’m only going to release the ones that are too small to keep. I spend way too much time and money on fishing for me to just be letting the fish go. Unless you have a deep wallet and don’t care what you spend, then that’s your problem. You’re allowed to do what you want, but I’m doing it my way. Also consider the fact that some lakes are purposefully stocked with trophy fish species... just for that reason, they’re trophies. We’re meant to catch and keep them. Again, you’re free to do what you want, but I’m keeping them. Don’t go out of your way and bully someone because you don’t like their choices. So long story short, to the guy that called me a ‘greedy pig’, FUCK YOU!!! I don’t need to be called names, and I don’t need your negativity. You don’t know me, or my life story, so just fuck you!
