this would have been a good day to get married on. easy date to remember. yesterday was the same: 11-11-12. hard for your man to just up and say: "honey, i'm sorry, i forgot." yea, i always like to make it harder for anyone to lie to me.
this is a better place. though saturday i FINALLY went to the horse mart to pick up the blankets that i had dropped off to be repaired and cleaned a week before i ended up having to put summergirl down. i'm afraid i cried in the store a little. i bought a few things to try to lighten the mood! hehehehe! i'm a big believer in retail therapy. i should post the picture of all the shoes mom and i bought last week while my younger sister was here. since losing weight from medications, my mom's feet have shrunk to a 7.5. the same as me. so we picked up a few more pairs than we would have on our own, because we can share now. i'm happy about this double duty my shoes will be doing, because that means more for me. i'm not so happy about it cause it means that i will be doing more sharing. shoes aren't something to share. how you take care of them, isn't the same way someone else will. can make for difficult times, at times. **shrug** we shall see how it continues to go.
gunner is totally being such a good horse. saturday evening around 4 p.m. we headed for the ring to do some exercises because it rained thursday on my lesson and we didn't get to go. we walked until i was able to get his head down, and for him to go round by raising his back under me. takes some muscle and must be hard to do in the beginning for a horse, but he's getting much better at it and so as i, since starting pilates to work on my balance and my core strength/muscles. i had bought new spurs that day at the horse mart, so he tried to pull some of his normal: "i can't do this" tricks what with cutting corners when we'd turn and trying to speed up enough to prevent him from going round in the undercarriage. but with the spurs there to inspire him, he seemed to give up on the lallygagging around and got to work fairly quickly. i was seriously impressed with him for a number of reasons. we hadn't ridden the day before because of my schedule and the rain. and we hadn't worked on equitation since the thursday before. once i can let go of my death grip on the reins while still keeping contact with his mouth, he goes all soft on me, and will do pretty much whatever i ask him to. he even rode home pretty much all the way, carrying his head low and rounding out his back. i've just got to remember to keep my hands soft, and he's willing to do anything i ask. he's such a good horse! i think i'm in love again.
