(Spoilers for the Trouble series) What was once a fantastic friendship with a lot of page time dedicated to it and some real chemistry, immediately went downhill once the two kissed at the end of book one. The chemistry and engaging relationship is lost completely. The characters no longer just spend time together and therefore feel distant. What time they do spend together (that is not spent on plot) is dedicated to love triangles, jealously, and Zoe being upset with Digby because of these things. This leads to an utter loss of what made the relationship engaging in the first place.

I dont want to erase the first time they dated in the show, but I do think they should have stayed platonic after they broke up instead of eventually getting back together. The show showed us time and time again why they were bad for each other, that they were happier as just friends, and them getting back together felt right out of left field.

Hey! I just started the trouble series by reading "trouble makes a comeback" (because it's all I could find at the book store, I'm so hooked rn), and I was wondering what are the ages of the main characters (like Digby, Zoe, Austin and Ezekiel). I haven't read anything about the other books because I'm afraid of spoilers, and I'd really appreciate if you can tell me some basic information about the main cast (couldn't find anything on Google ರ_ರ)

hi!! as far as i know the main cast (zoe digby and austin) are all 16/17 and juniors in high school over the course of the books. i’m guessing this because of character clues and the fact that the SAT is is prominent in zoe’s life in book 2 :) ezekiel however i’m guessing is much older because of his description, i’d say maybe mid twenties

THAT is how you open a sequel. i can quote this entire thing front to back i can lip sync to the audiobook at multiple reading speeds. i’m getting this passage tattooed

no bc zodigby is about making each other better from rock bottom circumstances and shrugging off flippant lack of care for others. zoe was lashing out at liza and didn’t care about ANYONE in river heights and digby was lonely but forced himself to disregard his peers to accomplish a goal and saw people (particularly women) as tools in a toolbox as a means to an end in which the end is finding sally *deep gasping breath pause* after which meeting zoe and realizing the gravity and weight of others struggles and their value, begins to FIERCELY protect those around him because he cares for them in a real way!!!! by the third book he is unwilling to leave henry fearing for his life at the expense of losing a lead on sally, his only once in a lifetime lead, he protects sloane from the suspicions of her dads campaign managers and rumors of henry cheating and he purposely asks zoe to drop out of a heist involving TREASON knowing that it may be a detriment to her and her family’s security he now UNDERSTANDS that value of people around him beyond tools AND he deliberately examines his unconscious bias against women even his own mother and expresses these worries to zoe before they break into perses *another deep gasping breath pause* and zoe (through her sometimes obvious and dare i say campy) preaching of feminism and moral superiority in the beginning of her arc evolves to reflect this value and comes into her own by the terms of helping other people. just like digby does. in the essay i will
