I’m sick and tired of your reasons.
Belle really wished she had it inside of herself to glare at him, to snap and turn the tables on him but she couldn’t. Not when he was right. No matter how she defended herself or tried to dress it up, she had still willingly sent their son away. Perhaps it’d been to protect him but then again, Rumple had always said intent was meaningless, hadn’t he? She could still remember the tremor and anguish in his voice when he’d accused her of abandoning their baby. No anger, just complete and utter devastation. She’d been able to defend it then, wholly believing she’d made the right decision but now the truth had been uncovered. Blue was not the one who’d taken Gideon, and Rumple hadn’t accelerated her pregnancy. He’d had no plans to hurt her, and she’d doomed their son because of her false belief.
‘’I’m sorry!’’ Belle cried, her voice breaking with the emotion she felt. She crippled under the weight of her guilt, looking like a broken child rather than the woman she was supposed to be, than the hero she had always claimed to be. Now she had to face the reality where she was the villain, or perhaps even the beast in the story. Gideon was in danger because of her, and she’d been so cold towards her husband, so spiteful that a part of her had gone to the fairies because she knew he’d hate it. Now it’d backfired, and no-one was more disgusted with Belle than herself.
‘’Is that what you want me to say? I tried to do the right thing and I gave our son to God know’s who. I thought I was protecting him but I just put him in more danger. No excuse is ever going to make up for that, I’m well aware!’’ Tears filled her eyes, not an inch of make up on her face because she had more important things to do. ‘’I am sorry. Hate me all you like but trust me, no-one hates me more than I do right now.’’
